México is hearing MARCH for the introduction of the Oxford AZ vaccine. Until then, it's a dribble of Pfizer and Moderna.

For some real professional background on just how bad an idea it is not getting the 2nd booster from Moderna or Pfizer, have a look at this advisement; an interview done yesterday on Youtube featuring renowned virologist Shane Crotty, of the La Jolla Institute for Immunology, Center for Infectious Disease and Vaccine Discovery, Crotty Lab (start play at 25:10): here-->

Re: Vaccination schedules
Indiana has released information. A website has been set up and people 80 and above can go online (also phone available) to schedule an appointment starting today. Vaccination centers are at specified hospitals and county health departments.
This seems like a much better approach than what Florida has done. I hope they have designed the website so that it can handle the traffic and not crash.
People 70-80 will be the next group but timing is still up in the air until supply of vaccine can be solidified. They are estimating February. Then 60-70 year old people and so on. I'm not sure if people with pre-existing conditions can jump the line.
I'd be interested in plans other states are implementing. I you have any info, please share.
Regarding second booster, it is my understanding that there is some immunity that is achieved with the single shot, but no where near the 95% with the booster. At this point with more infectious strains present in world wide populations it becomes a public health calculation whether society will get the greatest benefit by getting partial immunity for more people, or 95% immunity from a more limited population. The benefit calculations here are way beyond my level of expertise and understanding. I guess I'll go with the prominent immunologists/epidemiologists and their opinions.

Thank you. The incoming administration seems very concerned how slow vaccine distribution is occurring. Have to wait and see I guess. Self-protection is so important. I cannot stress how important it is to observe air outside circulation, and very limited numbers of customers while shopping.
Costco in México had a very patient "fila" or line of 50 people waiting outside yesterday. They have a disabled cart with bad batteries which I choose. 20 minutes of shopping then I report to the cashiers that the cart is ready to quit
Instant checkout and then flee.
Use your noodle, if you are older than 60. There are several stores here including Home Depot I will not patronize because of overcrowding. Wal-Mart México is another.
Still planning my USA med visit. Taking Clorox wipes for the chairs in a ziploc. Waiting rooms have >50% of their chairs taped off. The open ones get wiped before I seat. Public restrooms I touch nothing at all. Jeezo, what a hassle.

Samples were taken from 576 covid patients and the effectiveness of the antibodies in these samples against the original SARS-Cov-2 variant and the new B.1.1.7 variant were compared. The new B.1.1.7 variant produced a weaker response in 0.5% of these patient samples. However, "our data suggest that the mutations (in B.1.1.7) would not result in immune evasion for a large majority of these COVID patients". In other words, antibodies produced against the earlier dominate SARS-CoV-2 variants will provide immunity against B.1.1.7. The authors go on to state:
Quote: Since the mRNA vaccines include intact spike sequences7,8 resembling those which are circulating in naturally infected individuals, and naturally infected individuals exhibit a somewhat durable immune response9, we have no evidence to suggest that the current vaccines won’t be effective against B.1.1.7.

This study confirmed "the mRNA-based COVID-19 vaccine BNT162b2 had equivalent neutralizing titers" for both the original and the new B.1.1.7 variants.

Not sure if state involvement per say...but near me,Albany,GA,they are doing over 65 with other health issues. Appt's required. Our little town of Pelham is involved also.
Nursing homes have been done along with 1st responders. Funny (not really funny) is our police force was jabed, then a week later they were shut down amid an area wide spike in cases. Lasted about 4 days and then I saw the force back out running their radar again. But I did notice the masks and not too close to the cars.
Our doctor is not yet supplied but she will call as available.
Our company has their awards banquet next week. Most are not going so they are rethinking the plan. We have had 4 drivers with it. One will never be back to work,1 just came back after 2 months off. She was ICU ventilated for 2 weeks.

I can only address central Florida - but it appears there are several "ways" of handling vaccinations (and in my opinion, until the vaccine gets in the hands of pharmacies like Walgreens and CVS, it's going to be slow-going). A few counties are doing phone-in appointment requests; Volusia is doing drive-up which results in people arriving at 1 AM and sleeping in their cars; Brevard started with phone-in which blew out the phone system, so now they are using Eventbrite which is a "social-function" website that seems to be handling the volume all right? Unfortunately, our Gov decided to offer the vaccine to folks over the age of 65; so thousands of people are all competing for the relative "handful" of vaccines supplied so far. And at the risk of sounding "ageist" (I'm 68) - the people who should receive the vaccine FIRST - the people older than 75, let's say - often have a harder time with online access. So I'm not seeing any easy solutions being offered here at the moment :-(

We were notified obliquely through news media to "make ourselves ready" in February for inoculations of individuals 60 years onward. If word comes through of USA vaccinations then I'll go the route of least resistance. My friend who has a muffler shop 600 miles to the south has been out of industrial oxygen for 3 weeks and was told today that there is no word of resumption.
Day after tomorrow in México K-12 school resumes. There are too many rumors and a cacophony of gossip to get a handle on what the new mutant means to children. What official literature I have read is vague but "suggests" B 1.1.7. Is far more infectuous and potent than the original strain. I wish I could access more information. Hopefully an urban myth.

It amazes me that the states have had 10 months to get a vaccine distribution plan together and they still don’t have a clue, people continue to get sick and many are passing away. Sad.
