Following is the first post made in this thread last March. Keep in mind this thread is directed toward the medial aspects of Covid, it's spread, and treatments. We ask you follow these same guidelines as we enter 2021 and beyond.
"2019–20 Coronavirus Pandemic Postings
Due the confusion, and some alarm, being created by many posts being made about the Virus pandemic we are going to make a change on how to post about the Virus in this forum.
Many posts about the Virus Pandemic are being made without appropriate documentation validation. This is leading to the spread of incorrect, and possibly dangerous, information and conjecture. The well being of all our members is paramount.
Therefore, we are requesting any future posts related in any way to the Virus be made in this thread and this thread only. We are closing any other Virus related threads in ATC.
We ask you share only information that may be helpful and/or comforting to our members. In addition, we ask you only post information regarding current status of, spread of, medication for, behaviors advised, etc. from those sources most capable of providing current and accurate information, and please cite and/or quote the source(s). Some examples are the World Health Organization, National Institute for Health, and the Center for Disease Control.
We will closely monitor the posts for adherence to the above guidelines. We are all in this together, let us work together, and watch out for the health of each other. We have made this a ‘sticky’ so it will remain at the top of the forum.
If you have any concerns/complaints about this change in posting policy please contact us via the Private Message function rather than complain within the forum.
Thank you!"

Pointing out a reality must be adjudicated by the moderator. In my posts my complaints are of lack of information. The kind issued by Johns Hopkins and the Alphabet Federal Agencies. I mention Mexico so as to establish a fulcrum point for comparison to USA data releases. THE NEWS, an English language Mexico City online publication offers basic guidelines. But instead of printing erroneous data it ignores it.
It seems no one but me, is criticizing USA infrastructure faults as to distribution and jabbing general information. Every state is different. But very few states are releasing detailed information as to HOW, WHERE, WHEN, and WHY.
Serum manufactures must be held accountable for providing current status of shipments, expected doses for the next, 24, 48, 96 hours. Monthly estimates, and then publically posted accessible to anyone interested. State and local government must project plans. The word "Plans" does not mean news releases after the fact.

This forum is to share what we do know, based on the best available information. Keep in mind we, the world in fact, has never faced such a pandemic therefore we are in 'new territory'. Criticizing any country is not helpful. Most everyone wants this to be over; we are learning as we go. That is why this thread will focus ONLY on what we DO know and how we need to respond to events as they unfold. Complaining, conjecture, and blaming has no place here. We ask posters continue to limit themselves to information as previously outlined. Thank you.

Well understood ![smile [emoticon]](http://www.coastresorts.com/sharedcontent/cfb/images/smile.gif)
Sharing of corroborated information is worth it's weight in gold.
School children return to class tomorrow. I burrow deeper into quarantine. And I expect to buy $200+ foodstuffs in the USA tuesday. Things like a Costco bag of frozen peas. Mexican peas are despised by Mexicans. Rubber Buckshot.
The less time and less intense the exposure to the virus, the better my chances. My housekeeper returned Saturday. We both wore masks and washed with surgeon's scrub. We stayed in separate rooms. When we switched rooms I hosed down the other room with Clorox spray and wipes.
I am tired of this. My family is terrified for me. The region is BLACK. Lockdown. Much more intense sick and fatality rates than anywhere in the USA.
I will continue to point out the intensity of these conditions are NOT in the USA.
Hopefully my reports will bring some relief to quarantine folks in the USA by extrapolating the intensity of precaution I am taking.
Experts declare there are carriers that exhibit no symptoms but I've yet to find data suggesting a percentage. It is very alarming. I would appreciate any info. I am alone. Connected to family and friends by jammed solid email and telephone.

Here is one study (just one of several), results vary a bit but seems to be generally accurate; as best determined:
30 percent of people with Covid show no symptoms.
Keep in mind this was the end of last November; someone else may find more recent data on this topic.

What do we know:
The effectiveness of vaccines that have received EUA by the FDA have reported effectiveness when following the vaccination protocol tested in the phase 3 trials.
What we don’t know:
If the manufacturers and government can provide the correct second dose at the correct time if all of the currently available doses are released to provide more 1st doses. We also don’t know the effectiveness or side effects if the second doses are given at times different than what was tested in the phase 3 trials.
Updated 12Jan2021:
If all the currently available doses are released to provide 1st doses I’m not certain I would get vaccinated at this time (if I were in the 1st group approved). I want to be certain the correct 2nd dose is available at the correct time. I don’t want to be in the situation that I would need to restart my vaccination protocol because the correct 2nd wasn’t available.

Thank you Mr Moderator. I can only isolate and pray. My chances of surviving infection are near zero. Far too many negatives. Severe autoimmune reactions. I fear not but loss of income by my family scares me.
It would be of no advantage to me to live in the USA. I would be forced to live in a non ambulatory assisted facility. But México has the highest ratio of ICU to death ratio in the world according to WHO. And it's anything but a tight race to #2.
So excuse me if I come across as a little uptight.

It's understandable, we are all under stress. It's hard to maintain a positive outlook but necessary.

I'd like to share that I've found a couple of Youtube channels helpful for me. The first are from the "Medcram" channel. Specifically the ones where they interview Prof. Crotty. Scott Crotty's a virologist at LaJolla Institue of Immunology.
What I enjoy most about Prof. Crotty is his ability to break the science behind this into digestable chunks. He's enjoyable to listen to, and brings a virologist's perspective into the discussion.
We usually hear from physicians. Which is important, but a virologist and an immunologist can have an different perspective.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j7xsOsrDmPQ
The other channel is a bit more nerdy, and that's "This week in virology" hosted by Professor Racaniello. Vincent Racaniello is a professor of Microbio and Immunology at Columbia.
And he too takes a very pragmatic, measured approach to the discussion. With his panel.
Professors Crotty and Racaniello both had excellent discussions on the new variants (the mutations) and what they could mean. They've chatted about Vitamin D, Ivermectin and other topical themes.
When I read a headling in the NYT or WaPo, I usually check in with these two podcasts in a few days to get their perspective.
Doing our own research, staying informed is essential. As is taking care of one another.
I'm fortunate enough to have had some work experience in the Virus/Antigen/Antibody field, and I find these two channels to be pretty balanced, pretty good.
If you have other sources you enjoy, I'd love to hear about them as well.
Thank you - stay safe!
