Despite also falling under the cold chain transport, we seem to have enough influenza vaccine every year.

A newly published study with information on the viral loads in children with Covid-19
Pediatric SARS-CoV-2: Clinical Presentation, Infectivity, and Immune Responses
Journal of Pediatrics
Here is one key takeaway:
Quote: Nasopharyngeal viral load was highest in children in the first 2 days of symptoms, significantly higher than hospitalized adults with severe disease (P = .002). Age did not impact viral load....
Here is another key takeaway:
Quote: This study reveals that children may be a potential source of contagion in the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic in spite of milder disease or lack of symptoms....

Overall adult flu vaccination rates from CDC show 45% for 2019. If rate applied to covid would be insufficient to reach herd immunity.

RambleOnNW,
That is NOT what I hoped to hear.

Hi Pianotuna,
Yeah I’d like to cruise up to BC and check out some geology, specifically the Anahim Hot Spot, but that will obviously be delayed.
How long will it take to eradicate Covid, what is a good model? Checked Polio, but it had a lab incident that put out some weakened virus that harmed a bunch of people which delayed the eradication ( Cutter Lab Incident, cautionary tale for Covid).

What about Measles? (was previously eradicated in US in 2000)

Assuming the covid-19 vaccines are as effective and have the same DOI as the measles vaccine; once you’ve been vaccinated you no longer need to worry for yourself when herd immunity is reached. Just don’t be an antivaxxer.
Even if there was 100% vaccination rate for the seasonal flu; herd immunity will not be obtained.

This pandemic is in the first inning; the scientific understanding will take time; beware of premature declarations of “Mission Accomplished”.
Here is a report of Nevada man that had a second covid infection with a different variant than the first time. This one put him in the hospital.

I went through a month of 100.7 to 101.4 F afternoon fever spikes. Utter loss of taste and smell. I failed to smell raw LPG, coffee, cooking beans, sour and sweet taste, bitter coffee or sweet ice cream. It was all tasteless bulk. Lethargy, loss of 9 pounds, and get this....no cough. Covid test of any kind not available down here. I am 74 with an AV Pacemaker and BIPAP. I cranked the BiPAP up to 15.5 which kept my blood O2 above 94 when I bolstered myself to sleep on my left side. I had a lack of respiratory symtoms no otitis no renal malfunctions just fevers that soaked me by 6 PM.
I have no idea what it was but last week the fever broke in the middle of the afternoon and a few days later my ability to taste and smell slowly returned..
Yes I strict quarantined. It's now been over a month. My strength has largely returned.
I have absolutely no idea what happened. I had labs done meaning CBC and white blood cell count was 140% of normal.
I do plan to get vaccinated.

You forgot to mention that unlike the other reported cases they don’t know if the first infection in the man in Reno lead to seroconversion. Where with the vaccines they will be measuring seroconversion for multiple locations on the virus.
As it was noted previously not all antibodies are “neutralizing” (evidence suggests the antibodies against spike subunit 1 where the RBD is located) and not all antibody tests measure the the same antibodies. Without knowing which antibodies were measured for the others who have been re-infected there is no way to know if the first infected yielded neutralizing antibodies.
