According to the Fox News web site numbers:
1,887 additional deaths were reported from the virus in the US on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, but not all states have reported their final totals from Tuesday yet.

CDC estimates there were between 140 and 360 flu related deaths in the US each day for the past 6 months. Did anyone notice?

The concept behind the public wearing face masks is to reduce the spread from people who are infected but don't know it because they have no symptoms yet and have not been tested.
Face masks don't prevent you from getting sick, they reduce the likelihood of a sick person spreading it to others.

I’m not sure what point you are trying to make. Covid 19 is heading for numbers 10 times that amount just in the US. Are you trying to compare the two?

I wonder how many of those deaths were in the great pool of the unvaccinated?
The difference for covid 19 is no one who has not had it has any immunity.
Other differences are its stealth where it is infectious but without symptoms.
The death rate from covid 19 is a LOT higher than the usual annual flu.
Am I being cautious? YOU BET I AM.

These comparisons continue to fail to comprehend the issue.
Yes, over 6 months. Our health care system deals with this every year. We have 4369 COVID deaths in 1 month (first death reported in Washington Feb 29) in addition to the normal flu illnesses. AND THIS IS JUST THE START. Our health care system cannot deal with this degree of illness without extreme measures, and then maybe not.
Routine procedures have been cancelled. Other emergency illnesses/accidents still have to be dealt with. To think they are getting the same degree of attention is fiction.
This disease requires more intense treatment than flu when people are hospitalized.

I'm a volunteer Critical Care EMT. I've seen a lot of people die. They die from the flu, heart attacks, strokes, car accidents, diabetes.
One person in my county has died from COVID 19. That's one too many. But people continue to die from the flu, heart attacks, strokes, diabetes. Not as many car accidents now that people are staying home more.
The CDC estimates between 24,000 and 62,000 Americans have died from the flu this year yet a lot of people don't bother getting immunized. A lot of coronary artery disease and other serious illnesses are the result of lifestyle choices but people continue making those unhealthy choices. I've gone on calls for people who are having difficulty breathing and when we get there they ask us to wait until they're done smoking their cigarette.
COVID 19 can be avoided by staying home. Most who do get it will recover with no permanent disability, unlike when I was young and people who became sick with polio were often disabled for the rest of their lives. Yes, it's bad that a lot of people are dying from it but people are dying from a lot of things and that isn't going to stop.
At least COVID 19 doesn't seem to be killing our children like the flu does. And car accidents. And unmonitored swimming pools. And child abuse.
I guess I'm not sure what my point was.

And, that may be very understandable. Considering: 1) you are an EMT, under a lot of stress (as is everyone in the country right now), 2) you are dealing with a large variety of medical issues, 3) right now your area seems to be only mildly hit with the virus, and 4) you seem justly concerned about the health and welfare of people.
Our current pandemic is not the flu, as you acknowledge; and is/should not be treated as such. And yes, every season our country goes through a 'flu season'. So, that is not new.
With all that said, this forum is for the Virus pandemic news, updates, and discussions. If you feel a new thread needs to be started on the topic of the flu that is fine.

Well, regardless, a huge hats off and thank you for your service as an EMT. Simply said, YOU ROCK. Thank you sir.
