Even though today's message is "Happy New Year" -
I am not happy.....
If you want to do something, you will find a way.
If you don't, you will find an excuse.

The access panel on mine is hinged different, but the water management is the same. It doesn't seem to directly drip on anything but the pump and reservoir for the leveling jack when you are sitting. When you are driving who knows where all the water goes.

At 43 during the day, with the sun out, I'd be working in a t-shirt with a lightweight short sleeve shirt over top.

Here's a quick view of how the floor of our motor home was insulated from the factory.
![[image]](http://paddleupstream.com/mohorebuild/floorinsulation.jpg)
As you remember, the steel tubing is 1.5" square, and the blue insulation was 1.5" thick, glued to an aluminum sheet, which is also glued to the bottom of the steel tubing.
The top side, was 1/2" plywood, also glued to the top side of the steel tubing and top of insulation.
Understandably, I can't say I was real happy with it's performance in cooler weather.

Here is what I am considering.
![[image]](http://paddleupstream.com/mohorebuild/floorinsulation2.jpg)
1.5" of steel tubing, with an aluminum sheet glued to the bottom of said tubing.
Instead of putting insulation between the tubing, this would become an airtight dead air space.
On top of the steel tubing, would be plywood glued to the top of the steel tubing.
On top of the plywood, would be 2" of Polyisocyanurate Rigid Foam Insulation like sold at the Home Depot. Link Here
Another layer of plywood would be glued on the top side of the insulation.
My theory behind this, is to keep the strength of the structure, by gluing the plywood to the steel framing.
Also, I want to keep the cold from entering the floor, through the plywood, by having the insulation on top of the steel tubing.
The plywood on top, should help spread the walking weight across the insulation.
My question is, does anyone have any experience with this type of setup? Have you had a floor like this, and if so, how did it work?
Looking for some experience here, that I don't have.

Why not just flood the steel tubing with hot water? Nothing to it. Ignore the cost.

I'd love to see temps that warm. We had -25F yesterday morning, my sister had -41F at he house just a few miles away. (We get those cold pockets of air dropping in). Today is beautiful, although we did have a small blizzard last night. I plowed a little over 2 feet of snow this morning, after plowing last night too. Our forecasted HIGH temp for Saturday is -11F, with a low of -18F.
I should add that I absolutely love winter and I am NOT complaining. But...I also love to snowmobile and -11F for a high is too darn cold for this old man to ride. It looks like it's warming up next week, I'll ride then.
As to the floor, you are correct that a dead air space is a wonderful insulator, I'm just not sure if the foam would make a very robust floor. Maybe consider adding a few wooden cross members on 24" centers to go along with it?
There are 24 hours in every day - it all depends on how you choose to use them.
