This thread is simply amazing!!

Such a small problem that the manufacturer could (and should) have easily fixed turns into 13 pages of advertising!

Wonder where else Adventurer Truck Campers could purchase so much targeted (most folks reading here have more than a passing interest in truck campers) advertising?

Just too bad it is mostly negative!!

As to all who chastise the OP for expressing his problem and complaint, I think this is the perfect time for you to purchase a new Adventurer Camper. At least you know that they will definitely NOT fix any minor problem(s) you have!!

Not all have chastise the Op and your last two sentences are ridiculous. To blatantly say Adventurer will not fix any minor problems is simply false after reading one OPs situation. Again I have owned two Adventurers and have had no problems with any issues regarding warranty work. All were addressed very quickly.

Adventurer should have fixed this immediately. Sure doesn't say much about their customer service.

As to outside speakers, we haven't had any problems. However, we haven't used them because the factory installed them on the slide side of the camper and the awning on the other side where we spend all of our time.

Go figure,

Chuck

Definitely a piss poor design, makes me wonder what else you will find.

I found that the mechanism for the fold down couch/bed was a bit shortsighted relative to execution also. The steel brackets rubbed against the wall at both ends. This was discovered after getting the camper home driving it 360 miles. The brackets had worn through the wall covering and had begun to create gouges in the plywood (just from going down the road). We had not camped in the unit yet. Also, the bathroom door slid on rollers in a glide track. When it reached the end of the track, the forward edge of the door would fall off the guide support which would allow it to swing in and out into the cabin area going down the road. The latch wouldn't secure the door as the alignment in the frame was off. I fixed these shortcomings and documented them in my video entitled "Modifications and Upgrades" .... God forbid I post the video here as I'll be blamed for making a mountain out of a mole hill (just kidding) [emoticon]

Thanks for the original post! Having had a few TCs (and other RVs) over the years and wanting the 86FB for the last 4 yrs we were getting serious about buying in 2017 but your post really made me step back and think about quality control, value & usage. While it was hard to take off the tunnel vision glasses, I'm glad I did because I ended up with a camper van which fits my lifestyle today.

As for Adventurer... Listen up! You just lost a sale. Quality control is bad enough but lack of customer service is the nail in the coffin. Sad.

It doesn't sound like they lost your sale. You didn't even stay with a truck camper. Besides, I'm pretty sure your '98 doesn't have a factory warranty. Not that it's a problem. I like to buy used out of warranty as well.

UPDATE: The weather is getting nicer and warmer so I finally got around to fixing the door on our 80RB. I got some two part epoxy and filled in the hole completely and sanded it smooth. Then I bought a set of rubber bumpers at Home Depot and placed one at the top of the door and one covering the repair where the initial contact was made.

Total cost of my repair was less than $10. If Adventurer had even offered to split the repair cost with me 50/50 I would have been happy. As it is, their blowing me off as they did cost them a loyal customer who would have promoted the brand extensively on my YouTube channel as we travel in the coming years. I'll be removing their logo from the camper so they can't benefit indirectly. So, for the sake of $5, they lost an exuberant and excited customer and years of free advertising. Good call Adventurer Warranty Department [emoticon]

Thank you Jim. The small bumpers appear to work perfectly. Starting to make some additional little mods for our spring trip to Canada and the excitement is beginning to rise. Added an outside coax port for cable TV if available (or rooftop antenna) (also added a 21 inch 12/110 volt flat screen) and also a soundbar in the forward roof area of the berth for better sound when the A/C is running. Also added motion sensitive LED lighting in all the cabinets and rigged a length of 4" PVC tubing to carry a full length of sewer hose. We have a short trip planned next month to check everything before leaving for Canada in May.

Yoly, nice repair. Good idea to remove the manufacturer name from your camper.

Thank you GeoBoy ... I have over a thousand subscribers and well over half a million views on our channel and I plan on making at least 30 new videos from our upcoming trip. Since the majority of my subscribers are RV enthusiasts, Adventurer could have received a lot of exposure if they hadn't been so unresponsive. The sad part of all this is that they knew about the channel beforehand [emoticon]
