The RV industry’s shipments will top 438,000 units in 2017, a 4.4% increase above the projected 2016 total of 419,500 units, according to a new forecast from RVIA.
The forecast was prepared by RV industry analyst Dr. Richard Curtin and released by RVIA President Frank Hugelmeyer at Outlook 2017, the all-industry breakfast program that kicked off the 54th National RV Trade Show on Nov. 29.
The market projection sees towable RVs ending 2016 at 366,000 units before rising to 383,000 units in 2017. Motorhome shipments will reach 53,000 units this year and 55,000 units next year.
“These are historic shipment totals, and they mark the 8th consecutive year of growth for the RV market, and an incredible gain of 161% from the market bottom in 2009.” said Hugelmeyer. “We are optimistic about continued growth into next year due to favorable economic conditions. Inflation and interest rates are near historic lows; a more vibrant economy has created jobs and reduced unemployment to near its lowest levels in decades; wages are finally showing signs of improvement; and household wealth has begun to accumulate toward record highs. These are all working in the RV market’s favor.”
Hugelmeyer added that beyond shipment statistics there are other metrics tracked by RVIA demonstrating that the RV industry is a robust, vital component of the national economy.
“This past summer, RVIA unveiled our RVs Move America study. It was the first-ever look at the total economic impact of the entire RV market, and the findings were astounding,” he said. “The RV industry generates an annual economic impact of $50 billion per year. It employs 289,000 workers who earn $15.8 billion in wages and benefits. Additionally, the industry contributes $5.7 billion in federal, state and local taxes.”

I have read some things relative to theories surrounding the industry wide issue with shoddy construction. Approximately 85% of all the RV manufacturing is centered in one geographical location in the mid-west. Overall, the work force is relatively transitory as a result. Workers have no trouble moving around from one manufacturer to the other. There is little impetus for them to take pride in their work nor have any real brand loyalty. While this reflects more on the lack of pride in workmanship, the burden of quality control and QC checks lies on the manufacturers who deem it easier to just ship stuff with no QC and just let their dealer networks fix all the issues. Unfortunately, every dealer we've dealt with claims to have such a back-log of warranty work that it routinely takes 3 to 6 months to get most repairs done. This is not an ideal situation especially for families who have limited time frames with scheduled vacations to travel.

I found that the mechanism for the fold down couch/bed was a bit shortsighted relative to execution also. The steel brackets rubbed against the wall at both ends. This was discovered after getting the camper home driving it 360 miles. The brackets had worn through the wall covering and had begun to create gouges in the plywood (just from going down the road). We had not camped in the unit yet. Also, the bathroom door slid on rollers in a glide track. When it reached the end of the track, the forward edge of the door would fall off the guide support which would allow it to swing in and out into the cabin area going down the road. The latch wouldn't secure the door as the alignment in the frame was off. I fixed these shortcomings and documented them in my video entitled "Modifications and Upgrades" .... God forbid I post the video here as I'll be blamed for making a mountain out of a mole hill (just kidding)

This thread is simply amazing!!
Such a small problem that the manufacturer could (and should) have easily fixed turns into 13 pages of advertising!
Wonder where else Adventurer Truck Campers could purchase so much targeted (most folks reading here have more than a passing interest in truck campers) advertising?
Just too bad it is mostly negative!!
As to all who chastise the OP for expressing his problem and complaint, I think this is the perfect time for you to purchase a new Adventurer Camper. At least you know that they will definitely NOT fix any minor problem(s) you have!!
