Taking our 2009 28A on her first trip with us tomorrow. Spending 3 days at the State Park in Malibu. Nice trip to get our feet wet with the RV. About 120 mile drive each way. Dry camping so will get to give the systems a workout.

Will be nice to escape the 100 degree + heat we've had for a couple weeks. Malibu forecast in the 70's!

We bought our 2014 freedom Elite 31L a year and a half ago it was a Camping world fleet rental but it looked like they keep it up nice and it runs like a champ. I have put over 7000 miles and only had 1 problem and that was the tail lights which I found on the web that where a bad design so I changed them out, they kelp filling up with water and corroding the bulbs and the water was getting into the walls.
Some of the things I did to make it more to our liking was
1. Added sliding shelves in the pantry.
2. A larger TV in the bedroom
3. A larger monitor for the backup camera.
4. Added some 360 holding tank ventures.
5. Added 2 Fantastic vent covers
6. Changed out the sofa bed for a recliner sofa
I have a question for someone that may know the manual says to use a lite oil one the slide-outs but it does not show where you put it. All the rollers are in closed.

RE: Buying a Rental Class C. How many of us out there? (Long)

Have you thought of the 27G instead of the 23 or 28A from Cruise America? Having rented a 28A first we are very pleased with the 27G and they often have a lot less mileage as they were not rented out so much (they did not do the 28A for a few years which was designed for a family and appear to have got it wrong as they stopped). It is slightly narrower about 1 foot and also only 29 ft long. Ideal for 2 people. We wanted a walk around bed hence the bigger size. The sink and toilet lay out is far better - toilet on the floor and you are not perched up in the air as the 28A and I think also the 23.Good size stowage locker also front right next to the door.
Added two solar panels and boondock for days no problem until the water runs low. Stowage space was very important for us as we live in Europe, so have to have everything with us all the time when in the US
We did not buy a awning either for it and have now decided that was a good move having seen people with problems in high winds and the sun in the "wrong place"
On the back we have a Rowdy SSR 150 scooter which has proven ideal for excursions when parked up, including climbing up mountains with 2 up, in the Chisos mountains at Big Bend.
Both the 28 and 27 have lots of spare stowage space below the front bed end and the top of the water tank. We have fitted a shoe cupboard there which works well.
You will find Cruise America not only have a plastic cover over the mattress, but we also found an inner plastic cover over the mattress! Both removed to stop sweating and Ikea bed slats fitted below for extra comfort[emoticon] Mattress found in perfect condition due to the covers.
Lots of room under the sink in the 27G as well as long as you remove the existing panels and redesign. we now have more storage and also a invertor fitted below with the solar controller there as well. You can also get weight forward by moving the air trunkings slightly under the seats to create space.

hope that helps and does not confuse with the extra model!

Sorry forgot the other good thing with the 27G - it has a curved front with less wind resistance and we have been getting 10 mpg at 60 mph. The front makes the RV look a lot newer and a lot of people thought it was brand new last winter after buying it - it is 2010!

This is going to sound crazy, I spent the entire day today going to dealers and ended up in Orlando at CA. I live in Tampa. Come to find out I went to high school with the sales reps wife. After its all said and done I am willing to buy a rental BUT I must have an antenna , TV and awning and all CA is willing to do is put an awning on.

What is the best way to add a TV and get some channels?

You can always try El Monte RV in Orlando, they come with TVs and antennas and I know they would be more than happy to offer a awning if it doesn't already have one.

If you find one at another location that you like they will deduct the airfare from the price, you can call Mike Dwan, the National Sales Manager at El Monte RV and he will tell you all about it.

Thank you. Ironically enough I called that location today and Omar is the local manager. The young lady that answered said that all the RVs they rent are for sale and that I can call him in the morning.

We bought a 2013 Coachman Leprechaun 210QB this past weekend - a former El Monte rental. We are former pop-up campers and this is our first RV. We can't wait to take it out for a test run!
