Hello everyone, I bought a 2007 24' Jamboree on a Chevy chassis from El Monte in Feb of 2015. I am retired and have put 6K miles on it. In fact I just returned from a 10 day trip from Atlanta up I-75 to Detroit with many stops along the way. I rarely return the same route so after a stop in Cleveland to see an old USAF buddy, I came back on I-77 to Charlotte to I-85 to Atlanta.
I was pleasantly surprised at the Ohio Turnpike rest areas. I spent a night at one, they are RV friendly with electric hook up, dump site and potable water. $20 fee.
I have only had one issue with my RV. The transmission went bad. The warranty took care of it. I had to pay $100 deductible. This happened 6 months after purchase and I have had no other issues. El Monte has been great. I have no regrets about my purchase and would do it again. I did install a backup camera, battery isolation switch, flat screen TV and RV specific GPS. Next long trip will either be to The Smithsonian or Mt Rushmore. Savannah and Pensacola next short ones. GO RVing!

My wife asked me to look into installing a flat screen TV in our 28A.

I'd love to hear from anyone who's done this.

Piece of cake. I've done several. Installed to the forward face of the cabinet over the dinette. A power outlet and cable connection already exists up there. Just a matter of bolting the mounting arm to the cabinet. We even did one where we installed some electronics in the actual cabinet...a DVD player and a Playstation for the kids.

Good to hear back from you jetmechtm, after more than a year, sorry to hear about your problem with the transmission, and good that you have had no other problems.

It is also good to hear that El Monte's 1 year or 12,000 mile warranty worked out for you and they stood behind the warranty.

BTW you are #48 on the list of Former Rental Owners!

Go RVing and have some more fun.

Thanks IMICHABOD, I just hadn't posted. I follow the thread and am planning a lot of travel in the next year. I may come out of retirement for about 6 months and do some contract work as an aircraft mechanic. I will travel and work 2 to 3 month jobs doing modifications while living in my RV kinda sorta workamping in my own way.

Hello! We just bought a 28A from CA. [emoticon]
There have been some ups and downs(mostly the salesman we got) but we are on the road and enjoying the rv life!
Hard rain the night before flooded the concrete parking lot with about an inch of water, made for a great foot rinser before getting back in rv [emoticon] White Sands National Monument

RE: Buying a Rental Class C. How many of us out there? (Long)

Have you thought of the 27G instead of the 23 or 28A from Cruise America? Having rented a 28A first we are very pleased with the 27G and they often have a lot less mileage as they were not rented out so much (they did not do the 28A for a few years which was designed for a family and appear to have got it wrong as they stopped). It is slightly narrower about 1 foot and also only 29 ft long. Ideal for 2 people. We wanted a walk around bed hence the bigger size. The sink and toilet lay out is far better - toilet on the floor and you are not perched up in the air as the 28A and I think also the 23.Good size stowage locker also front right next to the door.
Added two solar panels and boondock for days no problem until the water runs low. Stowage space was very important for us as we live in Europe, so have to have everything with us all the time when in the US
We did not buy a awning either for it and have now decided that was a good move having seen people with problems in high winds and the sun in the "wrong place"
On the back we have a Rowdy SSR 150 scooter which has proven ideal for excursions when parked up, including climbing up mountains with 2 up, in the Chisos mountains at Big Bend.
Both the 28 and 27 have lots of spare stowage space below the front bed end and the top of the water tank. We have fitted a shoe cupboard there which works well.
You will find Cruise America not only have a plastic cover over the mattress, but we also found an inner plastic cover over the mattress! Both removed to stop sweating and Ikea bed slats fitted below for extra comfort[emoticon] Mattress found in perfect condition due to the covers.
Lots of room under the sink in the 27G as well as long as you remove the existing panels and redesign. we now have more storage and also a invertor fitted below with the solar controller there as well. You can also get weight forward by moving the air trunkings slightly under the seats to create space.

hope that helps and does not confuse with the extra model!

Thanks Cencerrita ! Yes, I have been looking into the 27G now that CA has more available, a month ago they barely had any. Forgive my newness/ignorance but what are the "air trunkings"? and I'm assuming you're talking about the dinette seats?

What number am I now for the Former Renters Club???

I just put a deposit down on a 2011 CA 27G, should be ready next week. Have to decide between now and then to have them install an awning or not. The first couple upgrades I think will be a backup camera and a tire monitoring system.
