On the last trip I put in 46 gallons on one stop and it was still reading about a 1/4 tank full. So I know I have a tank greater than 35 gallons and at least 50. So if he still put 12 more gallons in than I did I say that's awesome savings for me ![cool [emoticon]](http://www.coastresorts.com/sharedcontent/cfb/images/cool.gif)
Your tank is 55 gallons.

What it really depends on is, did both of you start with a full tank?
Currently RV-less but not done yet.

I have the 23A V8 on the E350 chassis. My buddy has the exact same length Majestic as I do but with the V10 on a E450 chassis (sorry don't know his model number). We camp in Colorado mountains all the time. We both left his house at the same time with full tanks of gas. We pulled over 4 hours later to fuel up at the same time and he put in 17 more gallons than I did and I am pretty sure we have the same size tanks.

My bad typo... the 23A is a V8/E350 (and the 28A is V10 / E450).
The 28A we rented in Mesa AZ, drove up though Flagstaff and on to Moab UT, over to Bryce and Kanab UT, then back to Phx, I averaged 9.5mpg for the whole trip, and like I stated before, we did well up the mountains to Flagstaff at 55+ and maybe 50-55mph on the steepest sections.
I was just wondering if the smaller/lighter 23A (with V8) would handle the mountains the same or so, as the larger/heavier 28A (V10) did. I want to buy one before the 6 month grace rental fee period expires to apply towards the sale price, and I keep flip flopping from the 23A to the 28A and back, I can't decide...lol.

How many people in total would normally be traveling?

I'd suggest going with the smaller/shorter RV, if the size will work for you. The smaller one you can pretty much go anywhere a crew cab long bed dually can go (other than the height difference), not so much with the longer one.

Majestic makes the shorter version with a V10 E450. My friend has one. Don't know if it is a different model than mine which has the V8 E350???

I had a 1997 Coachmen 24'(it hadn't been a rental) with a V10 E350. I averaged just over 10 mpg in the 5 years or so I had it. I thought it was a great combination.

I've got a 5.4 in 09 Majestic 23 P. They don't make it anymore. Perfect size IMO. Anyways it has the smaller V-8 Triton motor and I'm always on gas pedal and get about same MPG as the V-10 people. And go about the same speed. But remember I'm always on it. I would go for V-10 if it were me, if other things being equal. Does 450 have bigger brakes? more CCC? stronger suspension?
Wait till you hook up your toad if you think power is question now.
Little 5.4 does great job and leaves driveway at 11,380 pounds. But on the MTN grades I can hear it saying "I wish I could, I wish I could"
I'm very happy with the 5.4 but it is not a ball of fire.
