Packing Steinholz today, and we're heading back to Mom's tomorrow. Sigh. I don't want to go -- it's cold up there, and we've gotten accustomed to wearing shorts pretty much year round.

Tall and Short Friends are on their way back from their summer digs. They both got jury summons for the same day (snicker), but we all know they won't be selected. Then I'm coming back in mid-December for another medical appointment or two, and they'll go to Mom's with me. Don't know yet if they'll bring their fifth wheel, but we've got the parking pad in front of Mom's barn all set up for two big RVs, so all's good there.

Haven't seen Leoghaire in a few days; was hoping to give her a nice treat before we leave. Oh, well.

Break's over, back to packing.

Later, y'all.

Safe travels Wanderlost. We will be on the road also the day after Thanksgiving. We are going to visit our daughter and more of the family At her farm in northwestern NC. I would rather be at her beach house on the coast, but, well you know how it is. Lots more room for the children to roam and the men have plenty of acreage to hunt or just target shoot. We are taking a few of our black powder guns with us. Everyone gets quite a "kick" out of them, in more ways than one [emoticon] I am not, nor have I ever been a hunter. I will target shoot, but that's it. I will tell you, it is very hard to hit a target with one of those old black powders.

Take care wanderlost and Magnusfide, God bless

Got a bit of internet access, so:

I am so jealous, ro_sie. Haven't fired a black powder weapon in years, even though we have several. Can't do it on our place, Mom's is much too small, so we have to wait for the "black powder days" at our local range.

Steinholz did just fine, although following along behind, I saw the tires tilting, not staying straight, while going down a straight highway. Have to get that checked out. Now the stabilizers are taking turns not going up or down. Electrical short, maybe? The new fridge isn't working out so good; luckily, we're not using it. Not sure if we'll get Steinholz back home for warranty work before the year runs out, so we may need to take him to the local folks. Lovely...

Spotacus is doing better here than last time. A couple days after we got here, he sprayed right in front of us. I grabbed him and literally threw him outside. Made him stay outside for about an hour, until he was totally frantic. Several hours later, he did it again, and I repeated it. He had "hidden" in his tunnel, but I was furious, so it was not the "safe place" he thought it was. I yanked it up, spilled him out, grabbed him and flung him out the door. WLToo said the look on Spotacus' face was of the "OMG, I'm in trouble" kind. Both times, WLToo decided when Spotcaus could come back inside. But I do believe it worked to get his attention that peeing anywhere except the litter box is now a very dangerous proposition.

Now he seems to be making a game. Hikes his tail as though he's about to spray, we yell, he runs to the litter box. Now that it's cold, I don't want to have to toss him out in the cold, but I'll do it to make a point. He won't be out long enough for the cold to penetrate that thick coat, but long enough to penetrate his thick head...

Alex had to go to the vet to have a fluid pocket on his cheek lanced. Not an abscess, fluid was pale yellow. Then he got the Convenia shot and seems fine. At the moment, he's running between humans, trying to get us to feed him more turkey. He does love his poultry -- cooked.

Doctor told Mom to lose the walker and just use a cane. She has PT three times a week, and wanders around the house a lot, so the leg is making fast progress. Still have to schedule the cataract fix, then wait to see if the eye will improve to DMV standards, before we know if she'll be able to stay home or not. We'll probably be here into January at least.

Time to find Mom's Christmas decorations. Later, y'all.

Continued prayers for mom's healing. Sounds like Spot-Meister is challenging you to a game of one-upmanship. The smart ones always do [emoticon]

Agreeing with you magnusfide, he is challenging you, stick with it, and if you have to toss him out in the cold WL, Do it! don't be too kind to him. he will think he won. I love my little 4 legged friends, but they DO need to know whoes the boss. Sounds like you mother is making some great progress. The cataract surgery may take some time before the drivers license is regained. I have had both eyes done and my Dr would only turn me loose on each eye after 6 weeks. Luckily I at both times had one "good" eye, so never lost my ability to drive. BTW, have you taken her shopping yet? Some place she likes to go? Sometimes just being someplace you like to be and look around encourages walking.

I am wondering what caused Alex's cheek issue. Whatever it was, it doesn't sound as tho it slowed him down too much. My little guys each for a couple of bites of turkey. They loved it. They rarely get human food. I knw I have a soft spot for them, and if I start, I might never stop and then we would have the weight issue. They each weigh about 5 pounds and with their tiny frames, just a pound would show on them.

We were away this weekend, Took two grand kids with us. The older one went deer hunting. Of course she and my daughter didn't get anything, but it was exciting for her. My daughter hunts with a bow and arrow and then also with a long gun. Usually she gets one with her bow, but this year she didn't. but she did get one with the long gun. We are hoping to get this grandchild to be a little more active. She is carrying too much weight. Did I mention that I come from a family who is German and native American?. One side of us likes to eat and the other is entergetic and tend to be thin and muscular. Talk about a culture fight within.

Well, need to get busy around here, a lot of work to do before bedtime. Take care, God Bless.

We have an old Alpha female who is a genius - and she knows if she persists we'll cave in. In human years she's 89 so we don't mind spoiling her some.

She's taken a shine to a young male, also very smart: I wonder if that makes her a "cougar". [emoticon]

FOFL Magnusfide. I guess you could say that. but, I wouldn't say it in front of her [emoticon]

I have to tell you, I am so tired. Unloading all the clothing and the perishables is a big job. I guess if it were just me and Art, it wouldn't be too bad. but, a 13yr old and an 8 yr old. Its HARD. We are going out again weekend after next. our last for this year. I am going to make those girls carry all their own stuff. It is a joy watching them and dragging the oldest away from her phone is a good thing. The 8 yr old is good with a book and a few markers and some paper. We were in a park that had a jumping pillow and she jumped on that thing for 4 hours straight and was upset when I made her come in to eat. Gotta tell you tho, She slept good that night [emoticon]
Well,I guess my break has gone on too long, and I need to try to get off here and get busy. Take care, GOD Bless and watch that cougar [emoticon]

8 & 13 year old girls can be great helpers, especially if you get the 13 yo to help plan the bivouac. That'll get her off the phone too [emoticon]

Magnusfide, actually the 13 year old went deer hunting with another one of our family. She was so proud of herself too. She actually made arrangements to go back there in the summer to help out with my daughters business. She will make a bit of money and will be able to have a savings account. It will be good for her. She lives with her mother who works the midnight shift and Abigail sits around in front of the tv much too much. Her most activity is when we take her camping.

Thinking of you wanderlost. Hope things are going well. Take care and God Bless.
