I'm homesick. I really, really miss our swimming pool, the wildlife, and our kingsize bed. Sending WLToo home this weekend to do chores, refill prescriptions, and do some shopping in our pantry and freezers. I have to stay here to help Mom.

The working out schedules between us and my siblings turned into me, while they do their normal lives. Did have to lay down the law regarding a couple of weeks when we have medical appointments that can't be rescheduled.

Mom's cleared to walk. More physical therapy to come, but what few exercises she already has I do believe she's overdoing. She's bored and wants to be up and about, but the knee especially is really achy. Having been through knee PT, I warned her what it would be like. Doesn't matter; she's still overdoing. Sigh.

Spotacus has a bladder infection again. This one is a very antibiotic resistant strain, so we're going to try an oral antibiotic in the Batril family first. One of the cats can't tolerate Batril itself, but we don't remember which one, so we're going to try this first and watch him closely for reactions.

Alex is doing just fine. As long as there's a human to sit on/beside and to sleep with, he's happy.

They did both want to go outside yesterday and today in the heat, but the wind was howling and a hot wind like that was just too unpleasant for them.

Meanwhile, I got Spotacus a new toy, and he loves it. It's that crinkly tunnel thingie. He likes it so much that he takes naps in it. I'll post photos if/when Photobucket decides to cooperate again...

Time for dinner. WLToo has been doing most of the cooking; tonight is enchiladas.

Later, y'all.

Hope and healing prayers for Spotacus and your mom. Our cats love the crinkle tunnel: they wore it out[emoticon]

Oh My Gosh! I have been reading this thread ALL day. Every minute I could steal, I was HERE! BTW, no cats here. allergic to them, but like them. I do have two sweet little yorkies that are the love of my life, even on grooming days. I want to thank you for letting me spy into your life. It has been quite the adventure. Thanks! and I hope you don't mind if I continue to read your thread.

Wanderlost, concern here. Hoping you are ok. 14 days since you posted last. Perhaps a regular here knows what is happening.

Ro_sie, I'm doing fine. Mom doesn't have broadband internet, so we have to limit our online time to what our cellphone hotspots can handle, and that uses up our data plan really, really fast. Email and a couple other things are pretty much all we can do from her place.

Got a break and we came home. Wallowing in the joy of being back home. Have more doctor appointments to get through, and then we're heading back up to Mom's.

Spotacus tolerated the medication nicely, and appears to have gotten over the bladder infection. But he continued to spray or pee on Mom's carpet. I think it's a combination of smelling the old urine from her long dead cats, and him expressing his disgust at not being home. He's been on his best behavior since we got home.

Alex seemed cold a couple weeks ago, so I bought him a kitty bed. He normally doesn't use one, but at Mom's he moved in and parked. So it stays on her dining room bay window and he spends most of his time there, sleeping or looking out the window and chittering at the birds. Soon as we got home, he moved back into his usual spot on the loveseat.

Spot decided that 10:00 pm is play time, but only with me. So dangly things and the crinkly tunnel were a huge hit -- at Mom's. Here, he went immediately back to his normal routine, and hasn't come to get me to play at all.

Leoghaire met us as we offloaded. She's the only doe we've seen since we got home. Rutting season is in full swing, so one would think we'd see them bouncing around. I do hope the local poachers haven't decimated the herd. WLToo is concerned that all of the bucks may be gone -- we've not seen a single one. Makes me worry more about Leoghaire.

When we go back, we're taking Steinholz. We need a quiet retreat occasionally, and that will be a good one. Will also make it easier to haul all our stuff back home, that we've been taking up there in stages. Besides, we're long past time to thoroughly test out Steinholz' winter package.

None of the siblings can get off work for Thanksgiving or Christmas, so it's just Mom and us for Thanksgiving. A small turkey breast, cornbread dressing, salad, gravy, corn on the cob, and whichever pie strikes Mom's fancy is pretty much all we'll be doing. We invited Tall Friend and Short Friend to come up for Christmas, either in their fifth wheel or stay in the house. Best Friend is also coming from Virginia. Between Steinholz and Mom's two guest rooms, we'll have plenty of sleeping space, and it'll be like old times, when none of us could get leave, so we'd gather at one of our houses. Mom's looking forward to it, too. She'll have all their family trees documented by the end of the first day...

Older brother is with Mom this week, sister next week, then us until who knowns when. Brother texted that she's walking around all day, frequently without the cane and forgetting where she left it. She was released from in-home physical therapy last week and starts in their facility physical therapy today. She's been looking forward to that, so she can get completely back on her feet ASAP. At some point, she'll have to schedule the cataract surgery on her right eye. Only after that's done will we know if she can ever drive again.

If not, she'll have to move down here, near both daughters. Sister knows of a couple retirement communities that would suit Mom to a tee. We'd just have to make sure she has two bedrooms, because one would have to hold all the genealogy records. I kinda like the idea of the one that's closest to Sister's place -- it has a donkey herd and allows pets, and has a big garden to putter around in.

Time to get more stuff done, so it's all good when we do come home.

Later, y'all.

Glad to hear from you and that the cat boys are doing well. I think it's a good idea to take your RV to your mom's place as a retreat spot.

So nice to hear from you and know that all is well. I know it is a trial to be away from your home for so long, but you are doing the good daughter thing, and that is important. Happy to know that everyone is well and will be waiting for you to return home for good.

We had the house open to catch the breeze, when the strangest sound came out of nowhere. Turned out to be the deer feeder tossing out the food. The usual 4-7 does were waiting. Leoghaire and Gimpy's Fawn (need a better name for her) still come up to the porch and try to get us to feed them extra. Just might do that when we're finally home for longer than a couple weeks, simply because I miss the interaction with them.

Saw a spike crossing our driveway the other day, then we saw one of the bucks with the weird crooked antlers (several around over the years). I wonder why some bucks have good antlers on one side and weird shapes on the other. It's a puzzle.

At the moment, Spotacus is lying on the table between our chairs, pushing his back into my laptop. Alex is in my lap, where he's entirely too hot... They are so happy to be home, that I'm sure they'll have all kinds of nasty thoughts about us when we load them up for the trip back to Mom's. Actually, Alex could care less, as long as he's with us. Spotacus spends so much time in a chair on the porch, that we're going to put cushions on some of Mom's porch furniture and see if he'll lay out there, where he won't get in so much trouble.

We missed the butterfly migration this year. I hope we'll be here for the spring migration, and that we'll have a butterfly/hummingbird garden at least planted by then.

WLToo decided to cook bacon at 9:30 pm, so now I'm hungry...

Later, y'all.

Bacon is always a good thing[emoticon] I have stuffed peppers in my crock as we speak. Dinner tonight will be great. I was so surprised when I was stuffing them. I actually had made exactly enough to fill them. that's a first. I guess I need to be a bit more watchful tho. I don't EVER want to come up short while making them.

We are preparing for a trip in the motorhome on thanksgiving weekend. Seeing some of our family. We will be taking our granddaughter with us as well as Gracie and Rockie. While they are not thrilled to go in the MoHO, they will follow me anyplace I go. My two little furry shadows.

My dryer is calling my name. take care, God Bless.
