It's odd, some cats take to those instantly... mine LOVED the littermaid when I had one for them, and would get into the box just to get it to activate. Others just find them very alarming.

We purchased a jump in litter box and it worked great from the beginning. WE even take on the rv. The motorized one is scaring your new kitty.

Sun finally came out today, and we're warming right back up to normal Hill Country temps. Spot went out with Bobbi and Alex, but five minutes later wanted back in. He then piled up on the sofa with WLToo, demanded some pettins, and is asleep on the sofa cat blanket.
Except for the litter box fear, he's most comfortable in the house. We found a tiny regular litter box that just barely fits into the only open space in the laundry room, and he's fine with that.
Alex is still not happy, but as long as he gets to monopolize my lap, he seems to be resigned to other cats in the house.
Bobbi seems interested in playing with Spot outside, but not inside. Spot wants to play, period. He really likes her, but where she was quite friendly outside, she's more reserved inside. Strange kitty dynamic going on there, but it's only been a few days.
Meanwhile, got more fishing emails, but none were remotely interesting. Not a single email expressing real interest at all. Poor Spot. He's so nice, but deserves better than being number three cat here.

Sometimes it just seems meant to be somehow when animals show up and then everyone starts getting along. It sounds like things are going great! He has humans and other cats to play with I'd say he is one very lucky cat - he chose your house for some reason so that is where he wants to be. We have two cats now and have had up to four at times and have not been so lucky with them getting along. Luckily these two rescues are getting along well and all are happy. My male that we have had for 7 years now is still not real happy with her and gets jealous as she will get on our laps and he won't but he doesn't want her too either but that is tough because I want her on my lap and I have decided I'm the Alpha kitty! LOL Don't tell hubby - he thinks he is!

I'm the alpha cat, and they all know it. Luckily, Alex is the only one who insists on being a lap cat. Bobbi and Spot are content to be near, but not on top of us, within petting range is good for them.
As Alex has aged, he's become more and more "clingy." By the time he was 13, he'd lost four companions, and seems afraid that if he goes to the vet, he won't come home, as happened to three. He was there when Chessie died, so he knew right then. The others went and never came back.
When we go RVing, he goes along now, keeping his stays in the kennel to a minimum. I don't think I can handle three cats in the RV, so Bobbi and Spot (if he decides to stay with us) will not go a-traveling. Bobbi's much too fearless for her own good, and Spot doesn't adapt easily to new situations.
In fact, I think Spot is actually a bit timid, and definitely submissive. But he does seem to understand that Alex is all attitude and no fight, so he's doing well here.
Last night was a pleasant one for me. Got to sleep through without leg cramps. Seems neither boy decided to sleep on the bed, which they've been doing by planting themselves on either side of me, pinning me in place. I'd wake up with pained knees or leg cramps and have to maneuver myself into a new position, with both of them complaining about being disturbed when I lifted the covers. But Spot's new favorite sleeping place is on the bottom of the cat tree, much to Bobbi's disgust (she thinks the whole tree is hers, but sleeps on the top platform), and Alex moves from place to place, his current favorite varying according to season and weather.
I hope the off-bed selections remain popular, as this bedroom's not big enough to get a king-size bed in there...

I put a couple of el-cheapo cat/small dog beds... the kind that are basically an oval of fabric with a foam ring around and covered in faux fur... and put them on a dresser and another flat place in the bedroom. The two cats that sleep loose in the house love them, and only occasionally sleep with me now.

We have several cat beds. Alex sleeps in one when he feels bad. The other two aren't even interested.

Max our oldest and I fight over the bed. I don't like him sleeping on the bed and leaving all the cat hair as I'm allergic. Over the years I've gotten used to him but I still don't like all the cat hair on the bed where I can't even put my clean clothes on it to fold them... SO I decided when we moved to this house 2 years ago that since he got the guest room and the guest bed all to himself that he didn't need MY bed too. LOL He didn't agree! But I thought I won as he stays off until we go to bed and then he gets on the headboard above us only. Well then it got cold so he decided while we were sleeping he would climb down and get on the bed and it has been cold so I didn't say anything. Now he just jumps on the bed and lays there and forget the headboard.. LOL he will work himself into having the bed all the time you watch! We always leave it for him when we leave for a few days as he feels more comfortable we think being in our bedroom. He is more stubborn and patient than me but I'm learning.... He will soon be real mad though as tonight we are going to try to let our female rescue stay in the house instead of the garage at night and she will then be invading his nighttime territory... HUm - will prove interesting I'm sure...

We have tried to travel with our oldest male but he MEOWS so loud it will make you nuts and he doesn't stop. Now that is in a carrier in the truck but I wonder if we let him stay in the trailer while we travel down the road without a carrier if you think it would be safe for him??? I can't have him without a carrier in the truck as he wanders and tries to get under the drivers feet to see what he's doing! LOL he has long nails and claws and is not easy to control when he don't want to. (Though he would NOT bite or scratch intentionally - he is a good boy) Plus it is hard for me to stay in a seatbelt and try to grab him when he goes where he isn't suppose to in the truck... What do you think? He is ok in new places it is just getting him there that is the BIG problem.

We have a class A, Cruisetime, so we're no help. Alex rides in a cage by the dog house. He howls for about 10 minutes, then curls into his bed and sleeps. We let him out when we stop for lunch, and he usually sits on the sofa behind the dinette while we eat. When we get where we're going, we let him out again, and he sits wherever the view outside is most interesting.
When we were full-timing, he got his litle kitty wits scared out of him when we tried to take him walking, so he does not try to go outside when we're in the RV.
Our previous RVing cat didn't ride in a cage. The first day, he had to learn the driver's seat area was off limits. After that, he was just fine sleeping on the bed, or in a kitty bed by the dog house, where it was very warm (it was a winter trip). Never made a sound, which was interesting, considering he was half Siamese, partly deaf, and very, very talkative. But he was 19 years old and not much afraid of anything anymore, just curious about the RV and where the good napping places were.
It's a howling windy day here. Bobbi and Spot went outside, but that didn't last long. Alex didn't bother. Spot decided he wanted to lay on WLToo's lap for a few minutes, and is now literally plastered against WLToo's side, with one hind leg draped over his thigh. Kinda cute, really.
Bobbi slept on my lap for a while, and now is on the sofa blanket. Alex has been zonked in the other chair all morning.
Speaking of talkative, Spot is definitely that. Positively chatty, he is, mostly happy talk, thank goodness.
No emails at all the last few days. I'm not saying anything to WLToo yet, but I think he has a permanent buddy...
