After making a "U" turn under the bridge we could see one of out favorite Creole Resturants.... one of US Todays top 10 pull off resturants that I mentioned in our March 2014 TR....

We'll eat there before we head west...

We were driving in front of the visitor center which is on the frontage road accross from Steam Boat Bills.... I stopped to pick up a map.... we'd possibly be crossing some part of northern Louisiana on the way east... i like the maps that show road construction... closures, etc.

Janet follows the weather closely.... Snow, ice, tornados, hurricanes, and flooding will all cause us to alter our routes... or to shelter in place.

It was unseasonable hot and humid in Lake Charles ( 4th week of March )...

We headed west on I-10.... deciding to blow through Houston... hoping a weekend would make traffic a little lighter...

It's a long way to the top of the bridge...

You can see the crossed muskets in the handrails in this picture.

For many years I have planned on using a hack saw to get me a set of the iron muskets....

now I'd use my battery powerd DeWalt recipical saw...

Janet hates heights... especially bridges....

The bridge isn't tilting... Janet is.

I'm sure that both of you readers recognize that we are in the inside lane.... it helps alleaviate Janets fears.... and we aren't breaking the 50 mph speed limit.

A lot of traffic is passing us in the right lane at 70 mph... no one is blowing horns, flipping fingers or trying to wreck us... thank goodness.

It's the only time that I use the left lane except to pass ....

I used to vist the engineers in a couple of these chemical plants...

I had to take a 10 minute gas mask course each time I stopped in at Olin.
