it wasn't long before we crossed into Texas... they have a very interesting Welcome Center... we stopped.

The visitors center has a elevated walkway out into the swamp more like what I'd expect from Louisiana snd states east.... I think of Texas as dry and dusty...

Chased by the thoughts of giant chickens we blew on through Houston and into the nightmare of San Antonio (road construction everywhere)
We "parked" overnight on the north west side of San Antonio and continued the next morning.
This picture was just to keep us cool.... head's anyway... until we could continue west.
Janet was watching the weather... storms and temperatures... Phoenix was not looking as good... and where we were was unseasonably hot. We were making decisions on the fly.... unlimited time.... no firm destination or reservations.
