We stayed all night in Meridian, MS.... more than 360 miles from home... we haven't doon that kind of milage for years.

We had company:

There camper was set up nicely.... we never saw the occupants

... we were in bed early.... they were gone when we woke up.

Our night camp was just north of the I-59 stretch that caused us so much grief on our 2014 trip.

We headed west instead to just west of Jackson, MS to the Natchez Trace Parkway south. It is like a smooth ribbon.... but it is limited to 45 MPH. I'll take it anytime to avoid the washboard roads.... ( Yes I know... many of us in the south say "Worshboards" )

The Natchez Trace goes from Nashville, Tn to Natchez, MS.... people used the Trace (trail) as they traveled back and forth.... there was no road.

Looking at it as we are heading south I can see the swamps and thick brush that you'd encounter... it would have been a hard trip.
