I have read and heard people saying they'd do it them selves... not only did these guys make everything fit but they tempered the steel back to where it is supposed to be...
these guys were using torched, no goggles....
Here this side was being put back together:

When they let the truck off the jacks I used my iPhone level to see how close they'd got the camper to level. I had already checked their shop floor... it was perfectly level. The camper was absolutely level... it was just what I'd asked for.
I tipped the workers... we all smilled.
I was really impressed... I still am.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
A month or two later some truck camper people were heading back to Canada on I-75 from their winter vacation in Florida. They had broken a weld in the slide out on their camper... they couldn't get in the camper and were looking at motels. It was a Saturday... I saw their plea on Facebook when they were just north of Chattanooga...
I phoned Mr Henegar and asked him if he knew anyone that could weld the broken piece for them... I new that he was closed. He told me that he had a couple of guys working overtime on a Fleet Truck... if the campers could get there within 2 hours he'd have them look at it.
The Spring shop is just of the I-640 bypass in Knoxville... the campers could see it from the Interstate highway. I got ahold of them and told them about his offer.
They stopped, his men did the repair and even painted it... then Mr henegar did a very nice thing... the shop didn't charge the vacationers for the work... just wished them well.
NOTE: the folks with the free gift of labor have never said thank you...
I thanked the guys at the shop... what a nice thing they did

Happy Valentines Day
Spring is in sight.... about 5 more weeks or so.
We have our TC ready.... and we are hoping our winterization will hold during this bitter cold we are experiencing at this moment in time. The cube heater is running full time in the camper... aimed under the sink, towards the batteries.
We have the TC set up as a disaster evacuation pod.... in a worst case we have 450 miles of diesel fuel, 14 gallons of propane, the generator just a push button away, and PVSolar to run our electric kitchen... Freeze dried food for emergencies, and plenty of water.
I believe that it is our responsibility to test the Truck campers survival capibilities as much as possible.... and the sooner the better. we'd like to evacuate to the South West... of course we'd like to see some of you to compare notes.
As all of you know bitter cold winters and scortching hot summers aren't much fun... and last couple of fall seasons turned out to be mostly rain.... so March to late May or early June is perfect.
Of course... we leave the critters with our house sitter... they are better off.... as many of you know full time boondocking isn't for everyone.

Hi Sleepy,
Glad to see you posting again. Hope everything works out for you folks this year. I'm getting the camping bug again (actually I always have it) . We did 6 trips last year including Alaska.
We are starting to talk about either Big Bend or somewhere else in the Southwest. Loose plan is to head West toward the end of Feb or early March. Hope to see you folks on the road somewhere.
GoinThisAway we are looking forward to this years TC Rally. Everyone we spoke to had a great time last Nov.

You can't rely on the onboard computer to figure mileage, you have to do it the old fashioned way to be accurate
