The problem now is the in modern history the oil producing states have always had the ability for supply to outstrip demand. Now many countries ability to produce is declining for maintenance or political reasons, the demand is outrunning the supply. The recession has cut back on demand has helped. Iraq's production went was down and was recently coming back. Not sure what will happen now. We need to have it all here.

There was a statement made a few days ago how America's car average is 10 years old+. Imagine what is happening as they say people have started buying cars again and their new mileages are going up rapidly.
I think we are going with a Malibu with a turbo that puts out 259HP and get 30mpg, not bad for a fast car. The E assist Buick gets 36mpg.
Point being if you are driving old pony up for the good of all of us, LOL.

Love my new 2500HD Dmax 2015 GMC one heck of a smart TV computer can even apply brakes to TT in certain situations and on and on.

Still like being an all diesel family in the northwest with diesel prices holding pennies below gasoline. Hans

48 hours = 4 cents rise in gas prices at my local stations. What are we blaming it on this time...war zones or 4th July week coming up? What excuses do we have after that.

The funny thing about this thread is the arguments havent changed in the 6 years since it started.......and neither have the prices. Still around the same 3.80 per gallon it was 6 years ago. Too funny.

Passed a station here in Paris this morning. Up two pennies. 1.61 per litre. Thats euros.

Will report on prices in spain in a few days. Taking the electric TGV to spain tomorrow. A little over 800 KM in 5 hours or so including stops. The distance goes quick at 320 KPH. [emoticon]

I thought I heard on TV the other day that gasoline in 07-08 was 1/2 what it is today. $1.80 vs 3.60

Howdy bumpy. For nostalgia fun just go read the first few pages of this thread from 2008. Kinda fun.

$5.00 a gallon on the way to $10.00 and $15.00 dollars a gallon, according to HNN this evening. It's gonna take some real money to run with the BIG DOGS.

This thing has legs, and they're exercising them. We'll pay any price for fuel, and they know it. We'll look back at $4.00 a gallon as "The Good Old Days."

Thanks for reminding us to look back at the beginning of this thread. I too remember those scary days and I too thought maybe my retirement might involve bicycle camping as I did in my youth. Hans

OK, the price increase has started. For a bunch of stations they have increased their gasoline prices 26ยข a gallon to $3.85. The rest trail down to some stations still at $3.59. Diesel runs from $3.76 to $3.99. Got my seat belt firmly fastened for the roller coaster ride.....[emoticon]
