I bought a 39ft newmar mountain air triple slides, 8 tires, cabinet sticker says 18350 loaded, i had to pull it home with my f250 because of the elec brakes connection. I was useing a reg 5th wheel in the bed, had to stop at a stop sign turn hard right and up a steep incline at same time, as the truck went up the incline the trailer was still level but i give too much fuel because of oncomeing trafic, the right front tire on the truck was off the ground untill the trailer started up the incline as well, then it set down hard and fast, this was with a 5th wheel that allows no rocking movement on the sides, anyway i have not took to scales yet but from what im seeing on here about these weights and a f250 im gonna have to do it another way looks like. Truck has plenty power, brakes very good with elec brakes helping but that front wheel off the ground was a shocker,,i cant believe a pickup could do that but guess the situation was just right, taking to scales soon to know more.

The message there is that the trailer is far too much for that truck!

The problem is the a trailer that weighs over 18K# loaded would be over the weight that a "regular" truck can tow. That amount of weight is going to need a truck that has a capacity over about 27K# GCWR. It almost begs for a LARGE truck like a Volvo. Maybe a 550 would do the job. I don't know for sure without having a weight slip for one.

Finally made it across the scale yesterday:
2003 F350 CC DRW 6.0 - 8650 with full fuel and people and dogs.
2003 Jayco 3710RLTS - 14600 in normal highway configuration - 1/3 tank fresh water and holding tanks empty. This happens to be 100 pounds over grossweight on data plate.

thanks frank,,i think im going to look around for a big truck, since im in this field already with cdl im ahead the game in that sence. This is the heaviest 5th wheel camper i ever seen, guess thats why it has 8 tires under it.
97 mountain air 39ft 8 tires 17k 5th wheel to gooseneck adapter.

So knowing you are overweight without filling your water tank, what is your next step?
I trust you realize that you will be guessing on how much overloaded individual components such as axle, springs or tires are overloaded as the data from actual weights for each tire has shown the split of loading is not 50/50 between axles and very rairely is 50/50 side to side.
You could be looking at 5% to 12% overload on one tire. If so it isn't a question of If it will fail but when. Even if it was made in USA and you ahve never exceeded the max speed limit of 65 mph on ST type tires and you always have set your inflation to at least the placard inflation when the tires are cold.

I have a 2006 Dodge Ram 3500 dually SLT Longhorn, QC,LB w/5.9 Cummins and auto trans, pulling a 2005 HitchHiker Champaign 35LK. When we were full timing until late 2006 the Cat scale totaled 25860# That was with my stock tank full and the aux.tank ( 100 gal.) also full. Truck is stock with a Jake Brake added. The trailer has Mor-Ryde IS suspension with disc brakes. I average overall 12.6 - 13.2 MPG. As you all know that is subject to change with hills and/or wind.
