Truck has plenty power,brakes very good with elec brakes helping but that front wheel off the ground was a shocker,,i cant believe a pickup could do that but guess the situation was just right, taking to scales soon to know more.

Wedge542- Besides being seriously over weight for any "pickup truck", would guess that you do not have a side tilt type of hitch. That would be the reason for the front wheel lifting. There must have been some serious twisting of the truck frame !! Aside tilt hitch is a very good item for towing ! Good travels, enjoy the great USA !

We are thinking about upgrading from a smaller travel trailer to a 5th wheel. Our TV is a 2009 Chevy Silverado 2500HD crew cab 4x4 standard box Duramax Diesel 6.6L 3.73 axle ratio. The GVWR is 9200 lbs, front GAWR 4860 lbs, rear GAWR 6084 lbs, GCWR 16,000 lbs.
We are considering getting an Arctic Fox 27-5L 5th wheel. Dry axle weight 7500 lbs, dry hitch weight 1500 lbs, gross dry weight 9000 lbs
I would like to get an experienced 5th wheel owner's opinion on this setup and the capability of our truck to pull that sized trailer. The 5th wheel is heavier than our current TT and I trust the opinions here over the dealership's. Thanks.

The trailer should be ideal for the 3/4T Duramax. I love the slide out closet it has since I had the same thing in my DP MH. That trailer is one of my favorites due to that closet.

I compared the numbers for that trailer for my 3/4T Dodge and the weights came out right. The pin weight is usually the trouble spot for 3/4T trucks and that trailer has a weight that the truck should have no problem with. Weigh the truck and see how much "room" you have for the pin weight. I think the 3/4T Chev should be able to carry up to 1900# and still be UNDER the GVWR. The 3:73 rearend is a good choice for towing too.
