They call him Ole Fella
for the lack of a name
to the edge of an RV park he came
His fur was all scruffy,
one foot was lame.
He begged for scraps
they gave him the same.

A man took a liking
one day to this stray
and decided to adopt him,
give him a place he could stay.

This beggar was wary and wiley and smart
guess he knew by instinct
Richard had a good heart.

He allowed himself to be caught I guess
and taken to the Vet
to clean up the mess.

Now he resides with the Daniels
'nother dog and a cat
living the life of Riley
in Waynesboro, Ga
Bein' the King in a usual way,

Proud owner of 2 Barth motorhomes and a Barth Trailer.

Today I took Old Fella for a ride in the truck. He isn't comfortable riding he just tolerates it. He hasn't got his truck legs yet and bounces off the back rest of the front seat when I slow down or stop. I am trying to get him comfortable with traveling as we will be in the truck for about 5 1/2 hours next weekend going to Cherokee, NC.

Old Fella spends all day with me and he is becoming familiar with my routine and anticipates what I am going to do next. I didn't realize I was so predictable. He will follow me when he thinks I am going outside or to the kitchen. When he hears the leash chain rattle he runs to the door and waits for me.

As we were walking today he dropped a mess in my neighbor's yard and I wasn't prepared so when I got home I got a shovel and went back to scoop it up. Just as I was cleaning up the mess the neighbor came out and said "Good for you. Now I won't have to send it back to you." I really wonder if he would do that???

Oh yes. Thanks for the poem. Old Fella liked it when I read it to him.

Thanks to Roger and Cindy from Brunswick, Ohio we have a banner to display when we are at campgrounds. It will get its first showing at the KOA in Cherokee, NC. I wonder how many will see it and recognize what it is all about?

The banner has the Open Road logo on it and the words

Dixie Flyer and Old Fella

Told my husband the story about Ole Fella and said I wanted him to write a poem. He does write good poems and I'm kinda happy with him after 33 years.

I love that poem, "They call him, Old Falla"!!!! It tells the story pretty well and I liked the part where he is the King!! Mistressofdistress, your hubby did a wonderful job. I hope the campout goes very well for all of you this weekend, Rich. God bless and stay safe.
