I thought ya'll might be interested in what our community is doing for this problem. Your local paper may be interested. Our dog this week is "Left" and he was adopted, his new Mom called us. The cost for this is low and is tax deductable. Please check out this link:

What a great site! The pictures make you want to take them all home with you. I hope everyone of them find homes.

Well it has finally happened, I just lost my place on the couch. Old Fella, Levi and the wife have now taken over. What is a man to do? Old Fella has learned that when he goes outside and does his job that he gets a treat when he comes back in. So now he stands at the back door and barks to go outside and then he beats it over to the bushes, hikes his leg and immediately runs back to the house and heads for the kitchen where the treats are handed out and sits and waits for me to get there. If I don't come when he thinks I should, he starts barking and comes looking for me. I have become the servant to an old dog that has become smarter than I am!

I think that was evident from the time he strolled into your campsite and stole your (and ours, too) heart!

Congratulations on being the man that your dog(s) know that you are!!

Richard, It was so nice talking to you tonight and hearing about Old Fella, I wish we could have the rally tomorrow so we could all see the wonderful boy that he is. I just so hope that when the book does come out that the family that lost him does not come forward. I hope that they understand what a wonderful home and family he has. Thank you for asking me to help you with this rally.
Give Old Fella a big ol kiss and hug from myself and Mickey.
Thank you again.

I just came across this thread, well, actually about 2 - 3 hours age. Read it from the begining, what a great story. Dixie, what a wonderful person you are, Old Fella is one lucky dog. Sounds like he has a place in your heart forever. Funny how a ball of fur can work their way into our hearts. It is so easy to spoil them. Hope you and Old Fella have very many happy years together. Keep us posted.

I have been keeping up with this post but have never taken the time to post until today. Dixie Flyer, you are a WONDERFUL person and I know that Old Fella will make your life a much more pleasant one as your reward for being so great. Take care and keep the updates coming.
