This has really been a wonderful experience for me. I see the kindness and care in each of you. I think I have fallen into good company. Dixie and I want to see more pictures of not only Old Fellow, but everyone elses fur kids too. An Old Fellow thread would be great.

Dixie Flyer,
A few years ago my husband & I were camping. While I was walking our 10-year-old 90 pound Golden Retriever, Max, I saw an elderly lady walking towards us. I tightened up on the Max's leash a little to make sure she didn't feel threatened by our big dog. Well, she walked right up to me and patted Max on the head. She looked me straight in the eyes and said, "You take good care of this old dog...there is something special about old dogs." And then she just walked off & continued her walk. Max died this past April, but I'll never forget what that lady said to me. There is something very special about old dogs. Enjoy Old Fellow & spoil him rotten! I look forward to the pictures. Cathy

Hey! Dixie Flyer, we will be at the campground or our home in Modoc, that we just purchased, please feel free to bring Old Fellow(aka Blackie) and your other dog to see us anytime. I am sure Lady will also be glad to see her old buddy and we have a fenced in backyard for them to play in, or they can come in the house, our home used to be kid proof and now it is dog proof ![biggrin [emoticon]](http://www.coastresorts.com/sharedcontent/cfb/images/biggrin.gif)
Wishing you and your family the best.

Old dogs are the best!! I have had the great fortune of being companion to several old dogs. Currently Hannah is going on 13 and shows me how to relax. She is so laid back and sleeps so well. She is always in the room with me and is now curled up behind my chair. Just looking at her makes me sleepy! She and I both have arthritis and we walk about the same speed around the campground - couple of little old ladies!!

Dixie Flyer wrote: ...Just because Old Fellow is coming home Monday there is no reason for you guys not to stay in touch. Maybe we could set up and Old Fellow thread on the forum if that is allowed. Anyway there is always the PM or email. I will be mailing out the thank you cards Tuesday with pictures of Old Fellow so you can have them framed or however you want to treasure them.
One thing you could do is to start an "Old Fellow" BLOG. It's basically a combination web site and forum that many people use for conversing with the world. There is one in our signature documenting our trip out west. Just go to link and set it up. Then you can make pictures and text available any time and others can append comments. Great job!!

The story unfolds in the ATC forum.
The old dog lay quietly snoozing in his pen when he heard footsteps approaching. His ears perked up and his tail thumped the floor. He hoped it was The Man. All the people here were nice but he was especially fond of the The Man who had rescued him from the hard life he had lived. Now his belly was full and his hurts treated. Everyone made a fuss over him and he got lots of pats and goodies.
The vet’s assistant came into the room and the old dog’s enthusiasm went down a notch.
“Hey, Old Fellow,” the assistant said soothingly. “Just one more thing to do before we send you home. They don’t want you to ever be lost again.” She gently stroked his neck and he felt a slight pinch as the needle went in. He had gotten used to being poked and prodded and took this new intrusion with good grace.
“There you go, boy, all done.” The assistant gave him a final pat and left. The microchip she had just implanted was a brand she had never heard of before and it looked different from the other chips she had seen. It was a strange color and was actually smaller than the other chips they used. Probably new technology. It had been sent special delivery especially for the old dog and the vet said to go ahead and use it.
The door had barely closed behind the vet’s assistant when Old Fellow felt a funny tingling sensation in his neck. Puzzled, he cocked his head and then was filled with wonder as a faint voice echoed in his brain.
“General Missy calling,” the voice said. Old Fellow rested his head on his legs as the strange voice told him all about the DOTL.

I can't wait! Tomorrow I go to see Doctor Gradous and get the final okay for Old Fellow's walking paper for Monday. I brought home some goodies just for him I just know he will like them. Levi will be glad to see his old camping buddy, as for Izzie, well as for Izzie the cat he had better watch his back side, that's all I have to say about that! I will take pictures tomorrow and post them by afternoon. I am so glad that it has turned out the way it has.
I thought about making a banner to take with us camping that would say:
"Old Fellow and Dixie Flyer from the RV.Net Open Road Forum."
and put it out everywhere we camp and just maybe our paths will cross. Wouldn't that be great??
