I have been involved in Pet Therapy (training, evaluating, etc) for about 5 years and I always say that if people could act more like dogs this would be a far better world. They don't care what color your skin is, they don't care if you are rich or poor, they don't care if your fat or skinny. If we could all just learn from their unconditional love, their non-judgemental behavior, their devotion and forgivenes this truely would be a better place to live. But we don't seem to learn from the greatest of teachers...the animals!

I'm thrilled to see that Old Fellow is doing so well and has found a loving savior. Wish every story could turn out so well.

Visited with Old fellow today and his is doing great. Doctor Gradous says Old Fellow can come home Monday. He has to remain quiet and not let the blood pressure get up for at least two more weeks but I think that can be done. Today was a good visit as he responds more and more to my being there. He is such a gentleman I cannot understand how anyone could have mistreated such an animal. He loves to have his head and ears scratched and will just close his eyes and go to sleep with his head on my lap. There is so much love there and now so much trust. He likes his new red collar, he thinks he is handsome.

Dr. Gradous says there is not much else can be done for the teeth. The nerve is dead in the two front canine teeth but they are in good shape for the shape they are in. The one upper canine tooth that is broken off doesn't bother him so let it be he says. As far as the missing teeth there is nothing that can done for that either. The vet bill and the boarding bill has run about $600.00 and that is what has been donated thus far so that is good.

Someone was going to mail me a kennel cage but found out it was going to cost more to mail it than I could buy one for so I will go down to Wal-Mart and buy one. Last count there has been 5,800 views to this thread, wow! Who would have ever thought that so many people would have been interested in an old stray dog. I am glad they are. I have to go to Waycross tomorrow to see my 97 year old mom who is celebrating her birthday so I will not post anything until Friday after my visit with Old fellow. Thanks so much for your love and support.

Friday I will go to the kennel and take some pictures of Old Fellow all dressed up and have needsomefun put them on the thread. things are looking very good for a complete recovery from the heart worm treatment as there has been no sign of coughing and shortness of breath. The wife and I are planning on his home coming Monday morning. I will send pictures of Old Fellow in his new home at that time.

Just because Old Fellow is coming home Monday there is no reason for you guys not to stay in touch. Maybe we could set up and Old Fellow thread on the forum if that is allowed. Anyway there is always the PM or email. I will be mailing out the thank you cards Tuesday with pictures of Old Fellow so you can have them framed or however you want to treasure them. Talk with you later

Dixie Flyer.

PS:
We are so excited to have Old Fellow coming home at last.

Rich - we are all so excited, too! For both you and Old Fellow! It's just completely amazing how this "story" has snowballed into something that now has so much meaning for all of us. It is truly an example of how a "random" thought can turn into a plan of action which, in turn, was carried out.

Have a great day with your mom - what do you think she'll think of your tale? Isn't it like a boy to go around rescuing things.....! [emoticon]

P.S. If we have the Post/Thread of the Year Contest again, I'm definitely nominating you!
