I just made my little donation...okay you guys, follow suite,...and spoke with the receptionist. She said that 'Old Fella' is a very nice dog. Maybe he had some love and training in his early years?
I have to tell you Dixie Dew, the mighty Schnauzer, got up this am, went pee pee, and jumped back in bed, curled up on DH's pillow and got a morning snooze. Then there are the 'Old Fellas' of the world that don't have a warm place to lay down. Wouldn't it be nice if we could fix all the inequities of life?
I guess we can only do what we can in our own little corner of the world. Thanks Dixie Flyer for being the person that you are. As I said before, I just love people like you.

Dixie Flyer,
How is Old Fellow's emotional state? Does he seem happy in his surroundings? Does he seem happy to see the people around him? Is he responding to the kind people treating him?
Thanks, Dixie Flyer.

I just called the office and made a donation. I heard Old Fellow in the back ground barking. He sounds like he has as healthy set of lungs. I'm so happy Old Fellow is getting a second chance in life all because of Dixie Flyer.

Thanks, Dixie Flyer.

Old Fellow's emotional state is great. He is enjoying all the attention he is getting and has even accepted the leash and a walk around the yard. The people who work there are falling in love with him and treat him like a baby. How rewarding this has been and continues to be. You people bring tears to my eyes and joy to my heart. How can Old Fellow and I ever repay you?

Dixie Flyer, You got tears in your eyes because I made a phone call? How do you think soft, sappy, teary people like me do when we read of you going to that campground so many times and putting your money where your mouth is and boarding 'Old Fella'?
Dixie Flyer you are one of the people who not only 'talk the talk' but you 'walk the walk'. Thank you.

Today Old Fellow got some work on his teeth, but Dr. Gradous didn't want to do too much because of the heart worm treatment. Dr. Gardous said it's time now for the heart worms to start dying off and we need to wait and see if Old Fellow survives. also his foot surgery was postponed for the same reason. However he was neutered today and treated for some kind of fungus around his eyes.
His total bill has been adjusted so that it is only $222.00 with medical and board at the kennel. As of this posting $300.00 has been donated. We still have a couple of weeks to go so the board will be the biggest expense at $13.00 per day. Dr. Gradous says he will donate most of the work on the teeth and foot. Old Fellow will have a lot of girl friends with his new look. Thank you so much for all of your support. You are a great bunch of people.
For those of you who are unaware of the procedure of getting rid of heart worms. An injection is given and it takes about 7-10 days to start its work. The worms die off and then pass from the heart into the lungs where the body then gets rid of them. The danger is the heart worms can stop up an artery and cause the heart to stop. If successful this gets rid of about 80% of the worms. Then a second injection is given and that gets rid of the rest of them. The whole process takes about thirty days. Because of Old Fellows age the Doctor and I have agreed to just one treatment that will get rid of about 80% and cut the time in half. Then put him on the heart worm medication and over time that will get rid of the rest of them. This will be much easier on Old Fellow.
This evening I went by the kennel and walked him for just a bit so he will get used to me and so he could use the bathroom. He is such a trooper and wants to live so much you can see it in his actions. I have such hopes for him living a long and happy life.
