I have an RV, but I still love tents. I set em up in the back yard. I take em down rivers. I backpack with em. In the winter we have tent parties with a good fire and a wall tent with a wood stove. Then we cook in Dutch Ovens. Old ways are the best ways.

And a lot of us will never stop. Most of the really good places to camp do not have roads to them so an RV is of no use.

I am heading to Florida in January. I will camp at Johnathan Dickson for 10 days, on the canal at St Lucie for ten days(have never been able to get an rv site there but tent sites are easier to book). I park a small cargo trailer across from my site that has solar power and will set up a tent on the site. I will spend a few days on the keys visiting old friends and head north to the National Forest campgrounds with the springs. I like wandering about, meeting different folks, enjoying different areas. My friends do long term rentals and seem happy but I am not that sedate yet! The cargo trailer is modest, inexpensive and easy to tow. It has the comfort of a bed for short stays, solar power for frig, chargers,fan. Rough in cold weather if no shore power available but there are hotels in that case! I like to wind down at Hilton Head in an efficiency apartment on the way north. Tenting makes a long trip doable! Happy Holidays Everyone!

Good news. I will never give up tents. RVs can't go to a lot of the good places. I don't get the idea at all of "graduating to an RV" from a tent.
