Last camping trip we had a problem with the slide out not retracting. Had to get a mobile guy to come help us get it back in. He came with two people, spent 1.5 hours and charged me 100.00. His shop was booked and we aren't local so I thought I'd look closer to home. Brought it to Camping World in Uxbridge MA. They just called and said they spent over 2 hours tryi9ng to diagnose the issue and they are not "equipped" to handle this type of problem. I asked what was the problem and they said they were not sure, but they referred me to a shop in Worcester that can't take it until October 25. They charged me 400 to tell me they don't know what the problem is and they aren't equipped to work on slide outs. Well guys, you can see how old my camper is and itys a pretty good chance in the next 2 to 3 years I'll be shopping for a new one. NOT at a Camping World though. They should have told me from the get go that they were not equipped to work on the slide out

Years ago I had CW install a 2nd A/C. After they got it installed it wouldn’t work. They said it was a bad unit and they would have to order another one. Went back the next week to have the new one installed. A different tech said there was nothing wrong with the first one. The previous tech had tightened the bolts to tight and the fan could not turn. Readjusted the bolts and all was fine. I had made a 2nd 80 mile round trip and 3+ hours of my time for that. When I asked the service manager about it he just shrugged it off. No sorry. No apology. No nothing.
That was over 10 years ago and I have never set foot in a CW again.

Marcus don't care. As long as they keep selling RV's he's OK.

Did they not advise you of what the diagnostic charge was before you signed the work order?

Yes they told me what the shop rate was. But, I was clear the problem was with the slide out. They called me and said "We spent two hours diagnosing the problem. We have no idea what the problem is. Since we are not equipped to deal with slide out issues we can refer you to another shop that is better suited to work on slide outs." Did they just learn that they are not equipped to deal with slide outs? I have no problem paying a higher than normal price per hour for work because they are local, but to pay 400 for a diagnosis and the answer is "we can't diagnose your problem because we are not qualified to work on this unit" I call BS. Again, if they actually provided a diagnosis I would understand the charge.
