Yes they told me what the shop rate was. But, I was clear the problem was with the slide out. They called me and said "We spent two hours diagnosing the problem. We have no idea what the problem is. Since we are not equipped to deal with slide out issues we can refer you to another shop that is better suited to work on slide outs." Did they just learn that they are not equipped to deal with slide outs? I have no problem paying a higher than normal price per hour for work because they are local, but to pay 400 for a diagnosis and the answer is "we can't diagnose your problem because we are not qualified to work on this unit" I call BS. Again, if they actually provided a diagnosis I would understand the charge.
AND I will have to pay the new shop to diagnose the problem because the 400 diagnosis was no diagnosis.

Just got a call from CW Service advisor. They are not going to charge for the diagnosis and in fact they are not charging for a small job they did that I waws happy to pay for. So now all I need to do is find a shop that will work on a 20 year old slideout system. I've been referred to Timbuktu in Worcester. Not sure if I'll try to get it fixed now or in the spring.

I'm not a fan of CW, but it sounds like they stepped up in the end.
Is Timbuktu a real place?

I believe so. A little history. Flagg RV had two locations, West Boylston and Uxbridge. Timbuktu was located at the West Boylston site. I'm not sure of the relationship but they were associated with Flagg in some way. After the sale to CW Timbuktu moved at some point to a location in Worcester. I think I may wait until the spring to fix the unit but when the time comes I'll look for someone who is close and who tells me they can work with the older slideout/jack systems. Or, I'll just buy a controller and new solernoids on line and figure out how to replace everything on my own. You Tube is a great thing!

So an update. I picked up the camper and they delivered it at no charge. The small job I asked them to do in addition to fixing the slideout was to seal a window over the driver's side door. They claimed to have run a pressure test and found two leaks that they sealed. When I picked up the unit as soon as I move water came down from the ceiling at the front on both sides. I don't know if that is related to the pressure test or if they caused a leak in the roof. Also, the slide is now out at the bottom about a half inch, it was closed tight when I brought it in. I think we're going to punt until the spring. We're just going to winterize it and cover it and call it a year. Over the past few years we sunk quite a bit into the unit. New tires, replaced exhaust header, new awning and slideout cover, new toilet, new faucet in the bathroom. At some point I think we need to decide to stop spending good money after bad. Alas, the financial situation is not what it once was and I don't think we'll be camping for much longer. Definitely not in a Class A at any point unless I hit Powerball.
