Went to CW one time to look at one specific TT. Had to give the sales person or names address etc, and were then shown 5 different units they wanted us to see. We never saw the TT we went to look at, we left, and haven't been back to CW again.
We went to an independant dealer and asked to look around. They said sure go ahead, gave me his cell # and said to call if we needed anything. We bought there.

Hate to say it, but......
That's on YOU...... the pushy salesperson was doing their job,,, It's up to YOU to say something..
like maybe, "excuse me, I don't wanna see what YOU want me to see, I wanna se what I came here to see."...

The liar will follow you around and around and he may even give an honest answer sometimes. I do my research ahead of time of the units and price compare before setting foot on their lot. Works for me for both trucks and RVs. They can still be useful idiots.
No one on the RV forums ever admits to being or having been an RV sales critter.

Talking about them "blathering on" and calling them "liars" is an insult to those in the sales profession. Points can be made without the offensive remarks.

In this day and age I would shop online to see what the lot had and then if something that might fit your needs then go to the lot to see it in person. I myself before so much info online have just turned around and left when told I am sorry sir a salesperson must accompany you on the lot. Good luck

When I walk into the store and look around at how expansive the showroom is I think to myself "wow the markup must be huge to afford this"
Just food for thought.

Just do your research and enter the establishment an educated buyer.
Don't worry about how much people make --- it'll drive you crazy. How much does your doctor make? the grocery store? the gas station? the home builder? the HVAC contractor?....and on and on. Yup, it will indeed drive you crazy!!

On the other hand, walk into a store that is shabby and unkempt and think, this place has no idea of quality and probably not a good place to do business. It's all about appearances.

I'm thinking about getting a new travel trailer soon. I'm a bit worried about the high-pressure sales tactics at Camping World if I just want to browse. Wondering if I'd have a more relaxed experience at an independent dealer instead.

We just bought at our local Camping world in February. They had hundreds of units of all different shapes and sizes on the lot. They asked what we were looking for, we told them rear living fifthwheel, size and level of quality we wanted. They went to the computer, pulled up 5 units and the salesman walked us out to see those 5 units. We were in one and the wife said she wanted lighter colors. The salesman remembered he had one down the line that had lighter colors. He was thinking he could find that unit elsewhere but wanted to show her the colors. As soon as she walked into that unit, that wasn't in the list because it was listed as FB (front bath) instead of RL (rear living), she fell in love with it. It is still a rear living set up but due to the full front bath and FB label.
My point is having the sales group direct us to specifically what we were looking for saved us climbing in and out of a hundred campers. We already did that at camper shows.
