I said "Some call towing two trailers Double towing or Triple Towing, both are the same."

Quote from RV GEEKS

What Is Triple Towing?
Triple towing refers to towing two vehicles behind the vehicle you’re driving.

So, for example, you might be driving a truck and towing your 5th wheel behind it while also towing your boat behind the 5th wheel!

Another example would be a motorhome towing a car (or “toad”), with the car hauling a trailer containing a four-wheeler, jet skis, mopeds, or other recreational “toys”.

Is Triple Towing Legal?
It’s legal in SOME states but not everywhere, and it’s very important to understand where it’s legal and where it’s not before you decide to tow in this manner.

So bottom line it depends what the specific topic is!!!

An example was given of a truck towing a 5er towing a boat towing a PWC (which I’ve seen done on the road). So there is a difference between double towing and triple. Triple may be rare but it is done.

Friends of mine, "Mortons on the move"

Why Would You Want/Need to Triple Tow With Your RV?

Triple towing is a great option if you tow a fifth wheel RV and need to pull another trailer to transport something else large. You may not pull a bumper pull trailer behind another bumper pull trailer.

You may be planning to use a third motorized toy on your next RV trip. It’s common for off-roaders to tow some type of rock crawler or four-wheeler as well as their RV.

You might consider towing jet skis or a small boat behind your RV if you’re headed toward water. You could add a pair of mopeds so you can travel to and from town more easily.

In the "RV world" the above is considered double or triple towing.

No kiddin'..... However rv or trucking vehicle combinations requirements are enforced by a same state code enforcement agencies. Thats why when talking double or triples it important to use the correct terminology when asking questions...or making a statement.

The towing two trailers being called triples we see on rv websites started with those info sheets that some rv blogger started showing each state combination towing regs (their opinion) without first checking to see how those codes are interpreted. They mistaking call a states three vehicle combination(truck/trailer/trailer) code a triple tow.

And for what ever reason some continue using the term triple tow.

I've seen questions on other rv websites where some one wants to tow three trailers.
And of course we mostly see questions from some who want to tow two trailers.

Not all in the rv world calls them the same.

I originally called what I do Triple Towing (truck-5er-MC Trailer) because that was what it was called where I looked it up. But after being chastised for calling it that I did more research and found Double towing meaning the same. So just to make less griping on what I called it I caved to the Double Towing phrase. Now don't think i will ever change from AMZ/OIL to AMS/OIL, that simply ain't gonna happen!!!

To me, it's only logical that two trailers is double tow, since if triple tow is two trailers, what is a single tow?

Do a search "RV Triple Towing" and you see lots of people referring towing two trailers as such.

Lol, lots of people using the wrong term, don't make it right! Good to hear 12V...that you were able to make the correction!

The oil spelling, personal preference to follow the original, no harm, certainly no foul.

A single tow?? That is one less than a double tow. [emoticon]

"Remember this is an RV Forum NOT a Truckers Forum."

Is this forum about RVers helping RVers? If someone could or would help me from messing up, then I would be happy.
