Like most of the other stuff isn't? YouTube, Twitter, Podcasts, very little is intellectually enlightening. Even most of the forums are repetitive after a relatively short period of time.

YouTube has a lot of educational resources. For example, if you are learning a language Youtube is a huge resource.

I stay off facebook, twitter, snappy chat, tiktaks, I want to see whats going on with family or freinds, I send an email, text, pick up the phone and chat for a minute or just go an visit face to face. the social media is nothing but trouble, its destroying children, its becoming political and a tool for evil doers.

Basically much of the internet is just another way of killing time. You don't DO anything, you just watch, no participation, no activity, just passive observation.

Now for my opinion. No facebook is not ruining this site, or any others I use. Facebook is causing great divisions in our society and an extremely effective way that dangerous mis information is disseminated. I believe Zuckerberg will go down in history as one of the most destructive forces in the world.

Facebook, Twitter, and Truth Social et al are simply reflections of society at large. As long as beliefs are presented as fact, we'll have differences. The platform makes little difference.

I definitely don't use face book, tweeter, tic tac, or any of those other garbage sites, don't like getting trolled by morons hiding behind a keyboard in mommy's basement somewhere, guess I am to old and don't have the patients for it.
I have noticed that the traffic on this site has dropped off, but even I don't come on here as much as I use to, as I have come across a few negative individuals, and with the lack of new postings or new topics it has taken away some of the interest, I still pop back on once in a blue moon to pass some time to see if there is anything new, its rare.

on edit.
I do watch Utube quite a bit, old shows, movies, went through blondie and dagwood recently (not the cartoon) what a laugh, watched a bunch of George and Gracy, and many other old shows that have been off the air ( at least where I am) for a very long time. And there is some other interesting stuff on there, antique power shows,, etc.

I have slowed down reading the forum, and mostly read other forums a lot more. There are couple of posters on here who can't post without being condescending, rude, simplistic, and just plain mean-spirited. Life's too short to keep thinking "What a pair of jerks". Heck, they post even if they don't really have anything to say except to denigrate other posters. This forum used to pull that type of poster up pretty short, but not so much anymore. Maybe they're part of why the forum membership is dropping: no one likes being told how stupid they are for posting such tripe.
