....OK....Mex:

....I'm keeping my eye on the GIS-RS FluNet, and notice that the US has submitted data ending October 16th (called: week number 41).

Flu "activity" in the US appears to be ramping up (Canada, too); however see my * asterisk below. With Canadian sample specimens tested at 285 (125 specimens returning A(H3) ) ....compare with Oct 2nd specimens at ~96 (35 specimens returning A(H3) ). In the US week ending Oct 16th, 75 specimens returning B (lineage undetermined), and 2685 specimens A (lineage undetermined) and 69 returning A(H3). Back week ending Oct 2nd in US: 1470 total specimens (mostly A (lineage undetermined) and a sprinkle of B)....and week ending Sept 4th USA: appx 450 specimens total (A + B)....

*the quantity of specimens may not represent an spatially uniform or accurate accounting of the "trend" in FluNet

2 years ago researchers told me this prime boost regimen was far superior to straight heterlogous or mRNA vaccination for production of T cells. It looks like the theory has been proven.

Here is another one for you to read. It's a small study but it does measure the neutralizing antibodies (using a pseudovirus neutralization assay) produced against BQ.1.1 after Pfizer vaccination and Pfizer mono and bivalent boosting.

Substantial Neutralization Escape by the SARS-CoV-2 Omicron Variant BQ.1.1
BioRxiv Preprint 2Nov2022

and another small study using either Pfizer or Moderna vaccinations (it's difficult to tell if these were homo or heterologous vaccinations)

Low neutralization of SARS-CoV-2 Omicron BA.2.75.2, BQ.1.1, and XBB.1 by 4 doses of parental mRNA vaccine or a BA.5-bivalent booster
BioRxiv Preprint 2Nov2022

and another study

mRNA bivalent booster enhances neutralization against BA.2.75.2 and BQ.1.1
BioRxiv Preprint 1 Nov2022

My summary of these studies on protection against BQ.1.1:

1.boosting with the monovalent mRNA vaccines improves protection, but this protection wanes over time

2.boosting with the bivalanet mRNA vaccines provides better protection than the monovalent vaccines, but this protection wanes over time

3.previous infection with Omicron BA.5 provides better protection than the monovalent vaccines (depending upon severity of the infection), but this protection wanes over time

Question: A rough estimate of protection equivalence after 2, 4, 6, 12 months?
In my case jabs are no longer offered here and it's a 15-18 hour excursion to get inoculated.

I have had one Sinovac, two Moderna jabs then one Omicron jab two days ago.
Is there any sign infection symptoms are getting worse? More hospitalizations of the elderly?
Thank You

Yes
Succinctly that is the question. It seems like opinions vary daily. For now perhaps BA.5

There seems to be little consensus as to neutralizing antibody level and protection degrees.
Even more maddening is total zip on the efficacy (or not) of a high T cell count.

I’ve seen a 3month follow up for Moderna mRNA-1273.214 (bivalent booster with BA.1). I don’t think the mRNA-1373.222 bivalent booster (BA.5) has been out long enough for publication of a 3month follow up.
