Although I have no idea what "Tg" is I'm glad to see you've decided to upgrade your truck to a 3/4 ton. Personally I'd have kept the truck and bought a smaller trailer it could handle but of course to each his own, so CONGRATS on being one who actually pays attention to forum commentary, gives it thought, decides there is merit to what is being offered, and is prepared to act to solve the issue at hand. And to an OP who stayed through 13 pages of forum stuff.

To the OP, welcome to having the RV net weight police descend upon your parade like a ton of bricks ( pardon the pun ). Before you panic and run out and trade the 1500 on a new one ton dually, take your truck to the scales and get some real world weights. Compare them to the door sticker, paying particular attention to rear axle actual weight, vs capacity.

If you already have this new trailer, or can get it to the scale, get the actual weights.

Real numbers trump internet forum opinions spouted by guys that just want to spend your money on a new truck.

When you get some real data, come back here and let's discuss this further. There is a possibility you could in fact hook this all up and be within the axle ( and tire ) ratings, and have a good combo.

I spend seven months a year on the road in a lot of different campgrounds. Talk to a lot of people. Let's just say what I see out here in the real world is often quite different from what I see being yakked about on the forum. A lot of innernut keyboard experts out there....

You must be an RV salesman, next you'll have the OP thinking he can safely take his rig up through the rockies.....What a TV can physically "tow" has nothing to do with whhat it should tow nd more importantly what it can do safely.

No I'm not a salesman of any type.

But let's see here, on the one hand, we have some numbers stated by the company that built the truck, likely written at least in part by the engineers, and almost certainly vetted by the corp legal staff.

On the other hand we have a statement made by an unknown internet forum expert stating: "What a TV can physically "tow" has nothing to do with whhat it should tow nd more importantly what it can do safely."

Aw gee, who we gonna believe ?

Actually you all have done me a favor here. I will admit you all have made me cry uncle. Discussion on this forum is an exercise in futility. Y'all beat me. I'm done. Lurker from here forward.

"Tg Is" danged auto correct butchers me on my phone alot. I have fat fingers and large hands. Should have been "this".

Getting a smaller trailer would have been my first choice as well, but I knew if we did that, the wife would just want to upgrade when the kids get bigger in a couple years. We often have 3-5 kids with us, so a larger bunkhouse was eventually going to be ki n the plan.
