Battery production has been a near continuous problem for Tesla.

Elon: Semi is ready but for the battery
Yeah Elon, isn't that every EV manufacturers' problem?
Otherwise, Ford would just have slapped batteries on their F150 -- and they'll be first in market.

Looks like the Tesla model S got its makeover...and price increase. Slightly different body but same lines, revamped interior and new performance specs. I like it. Probably the eventual replacement for our model 3...in like 4 years.
So now the slowest, bare bones clunkiest shortest range Tesla model S starts at 79900.
It has 412 miles of range.
Goes from zero to sixty in 3.1 seconds
The performance plaid version for an extra 40 grand will get you under 2 seconds zero to sixty and another 20 K on top of that...well...even faster. 1100 horsepower.

From the article:
"Right now, not a single model fits the president's criteria: battery-powered, made in America, by union workers."
Why does he demand union workers? I guarantee you that it is purely political and will most likely be a huge waste of taxpayer money. Kind of like Boeing rockets vs Space X. Ten times the cost per launch.

You must be kidding. Even Tesla can produce them if given the vendor exclusivity as this will be purchased over time.
I doubt though if Tesla will customize to produce those postal delivery vehicles -- so Ford, GM can get part of. the action.
And maybe Toyota, Nissan, too, if they can comply with the new and stricter American content mandate by Biden-Harris administration..
Biden siad it would bring lots of "union jobs" back. That dosen't fit with non union tesla. The stuff thats not said sometimes is as important as what is. So , thw mandate is just not american parts /made. Its also union made.

I can see something like the Chevy Bolt having a role in some applications. It’s the right size, decent range, not crazy expensive, mostly good reputation. But it’s primarily a Korean car that is assembled in the US so not sure if it’s admissibility.
The Ford Mach E is kinda racy not to mention it is built in Mexico.
The various Tesla models are used in police forces already and I can see the plain Jane model 3 4 door sedan being a fit for some roles. The cheap Cybertruck might work.
Rivians Van should be a natural fit.
Most of the rest are European or Chinese. The Nissan Leaf is made in Tennessee. No idea how much comes from Japan. It would be a good fit in cooler climates. Leafs don’t like heat.
