Got my first drawer assembled for a dry fit test.

After the dry fit, I assembled it with glue and a few clamps.

If you want to do something, you will find a way.
If you don't, you will find an excuse.

When trying to open a drawer, basically, we are trying to rip the front offs! Lol. Ok, maybe a bit over dramatic, but the concept is there.

With a properly constructed joint, even without glue, (not that I would put one together without glue), that won't happen.

Dovetail joints can be a great way to hold things together, which gives a mechanical hold, as well as the glue.

Almost done machining the second drawer pieces. After the second drawer is assembled, it should be fairly routine to cut the rest of the pieces for the rest of the drawers.

I should be able to assemble several of these at a time once the pieces are all machined.

Might be a good excuse to buy a few more clamps. Lol.

Excuse, excuse, we don't need no stinking excuse to buy another tool. [emoticon]

Here's another slightly useless bit of semi-interesting information.

You would think that purchasing a 24 inch clamp, would allow you to clamp items that are 24 inches in length.

Here's a 24 inch clamp that is from Harbor Freight.

Turns out, that if you remove the little pads on each end, then a 24 inch piece will actually fit. There is no extra, but it will fit.

And the beat goes on......

Second drawer assembled. This one is also a total of 4 inches high, and matches the first one I built.

Here's a close up of the rear/side joint.

If I had used a pair of screws - screwed in from the side - no clamps would have been necessary.

We now have one in place, while the other one is waiting for the glue to cure.

By the way, before someone asks- this is not going to be an - assemble one drawer a day until finished. Lol.

I just wanted to get the top two in place to see how it would go, and then I can finish machining the other drawer pieces and assemble several at a time.

As a result, I am not expecting this to take 2 weeks to assemble 14 more drawers. (Ok, Ok, the applause can come to an end now)! Lol.
