This is the fresh water tank fill. No the hose wasn't leaking, I broke that taking the water tank out. At the end of the yellow arrow is a small hole. It was not really visible from the outside, but that is where the leak was.

As a result of this leak, I found this damage...

Ok. Now we have a little steel structural damage. Not any frame damage to the chassis though. Just a small piece missing on the side wall. Lol, or not?

If you want to do something, you will find a way.
If you don't, you will find an excuse.

And now, for something that wasn't damaged. I just took it apart to see how it was made. This is the bunk that was over top of the pilot and co-pilot's seats. It was not glued, it was just stapled.

The next pic is of the cabinet which was next to the stove, and the bath. I don't have a good pic of the bath, but the blue rectangle is where the tub/shower is, the green arrow points to the sink, which is hidden behind the cabinet, and the orange arrow points to the commode, which is barely visible.

After taking the doors off of the cabinet, I cut them apart. Nice cardboard inside them. Helps keep the door from collapsing. Also, doesn't weigh much.

This is the wall behind the cabinet, next to the stove. As u can see, the single layer of plywood is still glued to the fiberglass outside. Inside the red rectangle is an area that I tried scraping off the plywood.

The fiberglass is like many built back then, and is not flat. The area of light color is where it protrudes on the outside. That plywood scrapes off easily, as it is not glued to the fiberglass. Evidently the glue they used was sprayed onto the outside of the plywood, and then the fiberglass laid on top of it. The darkened areas are where the plywood is still glued to the fiberglass. It does not come off very easily.

34 years, and that glue is still holding strong. Lol...

As can see, the water heater is at the bottom left, and was inside the lower portion of the cabinet.

2 Questions:
What model is this?
Have you decided how much you're going to fix yet or is this still triage mode?

Model H. I have only seen 1 other one like this in person, and that was out in Wyoming about 12 years ago. Even pics are hard to come by. I did locate a floorplan almost identical to what this one was, which I will post.

I am well past the point of what the pics show, as far as looking for water damage. The plan is at this point to rebuild her, but I am not planning on rebuilding it to the same floor plan as was original. That will be the interesting part.

As far as being a HUGE undertaking, yea, it is. Things kinda got outta hand the further I went, but, it's like the old saying... How do u eat an elephant?... One bite at a time.

By breaking things down to one job at a time, it should be manageable, although time consuming.

Here's the floorplan. The difference with ours is, or was - our bed was only a 3/4 bed (48 inches wide), and the sink in the bath was turned on a 45 deg angle instead of straight.

Ok, on to the bathroom. Couple of pictures here. The first is when the tub/shower was removed. It was screwed into the ceiling, and there was a 4" wall between the end of the shower and the side wall of the rv. Even though the ceiling was hidden, as was the right side wall, there wasn't really any evidence of major leakage.

The first pic has 2 arrows, the second and third pics are close ups of those 2 areas.

I don't know if insulation will shrink that much, I assume not, so I figure the factory either made this on Monday, Friday, or it was just "close enough".

Here we have the interior paneling and insulation removed on the side wall, with the major de-lam of plywood on the outside wall.

Here is another shot of the same area with some of the plywood removed.

And this is the insulation in the ceiling. Notice the top 1/2 or so of the insulation is discolored. When I pulled that down, it was completely soaked with water. Applying pressure with my finger, caused the water to just run out of it. I didn't think blue board insulation would absorb water, but this one proved me wrong.

And here is a picture of the ceiling over the tub/shower after the insulation has been removed. The arrow points to the corner, which is enlarged in the second picture.

In the corner u can see that the wood is rotting and some of it is missing. That is the 2 x 2 that runs the width of the coach in the rear, and where the screws go into that hold the rear cap on top.

SO, the following picture shows what I thought was going to be an easy fix behind and below the kitchen sink............suddenly went from this........

TO THIS......

LOL........

Water damage, and de-lamination. It's always worse than what is actually visible........For all that u see, there is more that can't be seen.
