Also, this area inside the red lines, is where I am putting aluminum sheeting, on the inside, to help cover the framing, and keep debris from the tire from getting inside the wall framing.

Ok, here's the piece of steel at the top of the cap, on the drivers side. When I removed the old piece, I did not cut it flush.

So, I cut the excess off, and this is ready and waiting for the new piece to be welded back into place.

Here is a pic of the side that goes back in. As you can see, I have now added my 1" extensions on the bottom 3 pieces. (red circle)

The piece to the left, (yellow circle), will also need an extension, but I will have to custom fit that after the rest is welded in.

Here you can see the extensions that I added, I have painted with Por 15.

The yellow circle, if you look close, is no longer shiny. I sanded that section. Por 15 recommends, after the paint has fully dried, if you are going to add a coat, to sand with 320 grit to rough up the surface, so any new paint will stick.

This will get covered with another coat of rust preventative, and aluminum, so I am just getting it ready.

The 2 pieces of aluminum in the yellow circles, I have painted with Por 15. They will get another coat, and will be attached to the section in the yellow rectangle.

I have to wait until that is welded in, because those 3 pieces will have to be "sprung" just slightly, when welding them in.

If I "glue" the aluminum on now, I will be unable to move the 3 pieces of steel individually, when I start welding.

This is the larger piece of aluminum that I have painted on the bottom side, as well as the steel underneath it, so they will kind of "glue" themselves to each other.

So, while we are at it, we just add a little weight on top of the aluminum, and exercise a little patience.

Tomorrow morning, this will be dry, and I can remove the weight on top, and then coat the section of the aluminum with Por 15, which is actually going on the inside when this whole section is welded into place.

Inching closer to getting this back in. Yay!

Here's the last thing I bought for the motor home, but I forgot to add the cost of it in to the total, so I'll do that now.

Prior total, before this purchase was $1180.81.

Add another $45.58 to that - for 2 tubes plus shipping - (told you this stuff was expensive)

That brings us to a current total of $1226.39.

In this shot, the red arrows and the red rectangle shows the areas where I trimmed the aluminum. Originally, I just put a rectangular piece of aluminum on there.

So, then I flipped this over, and gave the aluminum inside the red lines another coat of Por 15.

The way my day went yesterday, I didn't get to put 2 coats on, so that means it takes 2 days to get this coated, instead of getting a coat on in the morning, and then a second coat on later the same day.

Today was the second day for this side of the aluminum.
