We will see about the decent car part but Tony is certainly up to the task.

You guys would not be sexist would you. Seems Danica is the only drver you put down.

Well with Danica running the 500, that will give my wife and I one more chance to play the, 'how far back is Danica' game. 2 or 3 times per race one of us will ask where Danica is running. And the first one to spot her position on that difficult to read ticker that runs across the top of the screen wins.

26th!

17th!

20th!

And to be fair, I do recall a couple of times where she was running in 10th.

I remember that race....there were only 15 cars left in the race and she was 3 laps down......[emoticon]

The original and most successful NASCAR Road Course Ringer, Dan Gurney has died.

Four wins at Riverside driving for the Wood Brothers.

Thanks for posting this, I of course knew who Dan Gurney was but little about what he accomplished and what type of person he was.

Reading what his peers say about him is impressive to say the least.
Universal respect for his racing and engineering ability.
Skilled driver across several different types of race cars.
Pioneer and inventor of a number of race car advancements - Gurney Flap etc.
First to introduce the closed faced helmet to open wheel race cars.

But the thing that was mentioned consistently was that he was a humble guy and a true gentleman. Always approachable and open to talking to you whether you were a fellow famous race car driver or just a fan at a race somewhere.

AJ Foyt:
“First of all, I don’t give a **** about Mario Andretti and not much about Richard Petty, but Dan Gurney stands above all of them,” Foyt said. “He was a great driver, a great race car driver and a super guy. As far as road racing, he stands above all of them.

Mario:
"Here's the difference between Dan Gurney and the rest of us," Andretti continued. "To many, the rest of us might be fortunate enough to be one of your racing heroes. But to all of us, Dan Gurney, he's our racing hero."

Still No Decision From Monster Energy

I read this twice. Talking in circles at its finest. Hey Monster, can we take that as a 'NO'?

Maybe they will just keep that.

Dunno 8.1, but Monster seems a better fit with NHRA considering their Target market. I follow NASCAR, but I'm on 2 meds for blood pressure and heart rate control, so I'm not really in need of their energy drink. [emoticon]

Something I’ve seen. On news sites but have not seen on NASCAR related sites it that Monster and some of the senior executives are facing at least six large lawsuits over sexual harassment.

Big high dollar lawsuits with one about to go to trial. Other companies facing such lawsuits have fired the executives involved. Though the costs could not approach their NASCAR commitment, the executives involved could tip the balance in the boardroom for or against continuing with NASCAR.

The board has to have known about the lawsuits for several months. They could be avoiding any big decisions until these work out.

Either way, NASCAR needs to intensify the search for a new title sponsor in my opinion.
