From all I've read over time, she didn't burn her open wheel bridges, she blew them up. The intrepid Ms. Patrick is discovering her brand value as a driver ain't what it was. Perhaps she'll do better with spandex, cookbooks, and wine, though there's no shortage of any of that on the market. |

I always thought it was a ‘rent a ride’ deal. Those include repair or replacement of crash damaged equipment. She would have needed close to a half million cash, and another quarter million security for the deal to go through.

Chip probably said 4 mil a race, up front and, you only get 2 cars per... Or...he could blow the dust off of something in the shop and sell her a Start and Park package. * This post was edited 12/11/17 06:25pm by gtnsmlr * The older we get, the faster we go |

I'm glad that she made it to Cup. it was good for Nascar. I pulled for her at first, then not so much as her personality became evident. Her final chest pounding comment was that she was going out on her own terms. I find that comical. However she is a household name now with a bigger bank account than I will ever have, so good for her. Now go away Danica. |

The last 5 years of declining attendance reported by the publicly held track companies would suggest not, nor can the decline be laid at her feet. I saw it for what it was, a publicity stunt and not much more. Her 500 Pole will always have a cloud over it to me, just like Mikey Waltrip's 'rocket fueled' 500 Pole in Toyota's inaugural 500. The only person that made out was Danica, and maybe SHR for the sponsor money she brought from Go Daddy. |

Just read on Jayski.com Kurt Busch signed a deal with Stewart Haas and Monster is returning as a sponsor, though no details on the number of races they will sponsor the car were provided. Reckon Kurt took a pay cut? His public statement put the best spin on it possible, but given SHR didn't exercise his contract option and he didn't sign with another team, I have to figure his career options were few.

Besides Danica, give me the other examples of events which led you to select the name "Follies"? For me, the totality what y'all complain is typical of what NASCAR has always been (a producer of spectacles who uses stock car racing as a venue). I've never seen a real jam-up NASCAR race.

I named it follies due to the constant changing of rules without giving the teams time to adjust. The rule changes I referred to cost Nascar nothing but sure raised the bar for needed sponsor money as the tech got way more complicated. The pics below were from Dover about 1970 or so. What a difference. ![]() |
