Can't help but wonder if Kyle's incident makes NASCAR revisit the crash damage rule for safety reasons. Post race he stated his carbon monoxide level was double digits. Kinda doubt that because if he had a blood CO level that high I believe he would have been unconscious or worse. Just the same, the combination of exhaust heat and fumes entering the vehicle due to the crash damage would seem to pose a big hazard to Kyle and the entire field if he was to lose consciousness.

JIMNLIN - I agree with noise comment on some of these broadcasts, especially NBC. I usually mute the sound and put on the closed caption for the race. The downside to this is with the NBC broadcast the closed caption translation is not that great. Maybe too much noise ![]() Had to laugh at Denny Hamlins comment regarding driver pay. I think he and Kevin Harvick were a bit stung by the August 5th article/interview with Dale Jr. In which he covered the reality that driver pay will need to decrease (both new drivers to the sport and existing drivers) with the new economic reality. He named Denny Hamlin, Kurt Busch, and Kevin Harvick as examples of existing drivers with upcoming contract renewals. Five days later Harvick makes statements that the lack of growth in the sport is in large part due to the fact that the sports most popular driver is not even close to being its most successful driver. He uses analogies to other pro sports where the most popular athlete is also the most accomplished for the most part. Ahh well, onto this weekend at Talladega. There have been some good races there in the past. Also, came across this nascar driver quiz on another forum. Kind of fun. 50 questions, identify the driver in the picture, you can use hints if you want. I managed 48 out of 50. Missed a couple of the really old timers. https://www.zoo.com/quiz/96-people-cant-........&sg_uid=e23498ef78e94bc2be6881a821115475 |

I had to use a clue on one but then didn't recognize Bodine. He has not aged well. Damit Gumby! Oddly only 47 came up.

Junior may not be most successful in terms of championships and wins, but he is probably Hall of Fame caliber when it comes to marketing himself! ![]() |

His sister should get the marketing award, Amy will lead several laps, and Jr at least has a car that can lead more laps than she does. ![]() (Amy is driving the pace car.) |

I thought the gods were smiling on JR today but alas Joey throws a double block and it was not to be. The Fords really have found something.

Didn't watch but the last 2 red flag crash fest segments. Seems like the pace car and safety trucks had a better shot at the win. But that's plate racin'.....
