Cloud still must be chomping on lobster and M & M's being he hasn't been on here about K.B.'s victory.

Well, the way I saw it Rowdy's crewchief and crew performed at championship level, and Rowdy drove like we know he can (really well). But, let's face it, he had a great car, AND had at least 2 strokes of good luck,... he didn't get collected in the #4 crash, but #78 did.

Uh oh! According to sports business daily Monster has asked for more time to decide if they will extend their Cup Series sponsorship with NASCAR. The original deadline was December.

The news also comes as television ratings for the first two races of the playoffs have cratered. Per Sports Media Watch, the races at Chicago and New Hampshire could potentially be the lowest-rated races dating back to 2000.

Ouch.

Seems Indycar ratings were up a tick this season.

Looking back at this Nascar season so far, the races that stand out in my mind are all in the lower level divisions. Specifically road-races, two xfinity and one truck.

Well, see this thread has fallen to #5 in the Sports topics. Perhaps, like NASCAR, running on fumes? [emoticon]

Some random thoughts from the last two weeks. Sucker's bet, but I'm thinking it's either Kyle (TOYOTACAR Kyle, that is) or Truex Jr. for the Championship. Just don't see a Ford or Chevy, not even '7 Time' pulling it off. Toyota got something going the other makes don't, MHO of course.

Read an Associated Press interview with Danica Patrick last week. Seems like once again, her lack of success is everything and everyone's fault........but hers. When the writer asked about quality of her equipment, her response was she didn't think it was the best (shades of her remarks about Andretti Autosport again). I have also read USA Today and Bob Pockrass columns ad nauseum about what a marketable 'brand' she is. If that's the case, why was SHR only able to go begging for sponsors to round out this season, and why is she facing imminent unemployment after Homestead. She says her 'people' have had 'conversations, but 'not a ton'. My translation: She's got nothin'! Good luck in your cookbook, Spandex, wine and Yoga career, Danica. You came, you seen, but you didn't conquer, just like many open wheel drivers before you, Tony Stewart being a notable exception.

Anyone beside me think next year will be Monster's final year of Cup sponsorship. IMHO, Monster is not seeing a benefit from their association with NASCAR. Watching the races, except for the Monster Girls, you scarcely know who is sponsoring the Series.

Loved Brian 'the Brain' France's comments about the state of his sport on Sirius/XM. Can you say 'whistling past the graveyard'???

No RV at the moment.
Looking to hit the road in a year or two.

Thomasmile, I thought too that this thread was going like the attendance and TV viewership. If Monster Energy stays past 2018 it will be surprising. This being Thanksgiving weekend in Canada, I wonder how many Canadians will be in attendance at Charlotte? Used to bring a lot of our northern friends down.

Well, considering the inevitable, I'm starting to think that I should become a doomsday prepper. Like, what will I do when NASCAR disappears?
In the interim, I say:

The 18 and the 78 are certainly the class of the field, but it only takes one wheel flying off or a crash with a back marker (10) to ruin it.
Carl was betting that Joey didn't have the balls to block him and it cost him the championship that year.

Cloud, just found this for you on Raleigh CL haha #18 golf cart
