Yes, they sure say that, UNTIL a win is taken away from their favorite driver. I've lived a lot of the history of auto racing.
I learned a lot about human nature when I was designer, builder,owner/operator of El Paso Speedway Park. I call the human nature of racing fans just part of the underbelly of auto racing,....deal with it. IMO NASCAR does a good job of dealing with it.

Yes, Cloud, your FRANCECAR did create friction, a different kind of friction, on Saturday night. They are masters of this sort of action. They will never understand the KISS theory!

Well, FYI all the years that I was racing (Sprint Cars) we used to call stock cars taxi cabs. We kinda looked down our nose at that kind of racing...as we were open-wheel people. I was a big fan of guys who raced on dirt, like AJ Foyt, the Unsers, Mario Andretti, Johnny Rutherford,....guys who drove USAC dirt cars. I loved the ole front-engined Indy Cars.
It's NOT MY FRANCECAR. And, I do NOT believe that the screw-ups are scripted. I believed they occur because whenever human beings are involved, there will be screw-ups. IMO There will never be a perfect set of rules. And, if ever they were to appear, human beings would still screw them up.
I will keep watching NASCAR races because it's the most convenient, tolerable, affordable racing I have available to me. I'm not going to spend money on the cost of traveling to the few places in the USA where I might get to see the type of racing I prefer. And, I'm not going to sit in grandstands either.
I already lived "the best of times", but I'm making the best of what time I've got left.
Why are some of the people here so contrary?

On second thought, I guess it's OK to keep wishing for NASCAR to morph into something that you think would suit you. What would it hurt?

Not That This Is News....

Well, Ms. Patrick has discovered being 'popular' don't feed the bulldog. The experiment is over.

Smithfield has announced sponsorship for an Stewart Haas team in 2018, driver to be named later. Aric Almirola?

And I absolutely love the media spin. Have read more than one story stating Danica was in the final year of her contract. Wrong!! She signed an extension at the end of 2015 that was to run through 2018 and Nature's Bakery was the primary sponsor until........Between her Zen and the media manure..........

Sponsorcar does make the rules now, so this news was inevitable. Running mid pack at the Cup level is still quite an accomplishment, but forward progress needs to be measurable and it just hasn't been. I'm sure that the money she has made will carry her into her golden years. I do know that the new driver won't be Eric Cope. Or the ambulance driver from Sat night.

Hmmmmmmmm........ What other driver sitting outside of the top 20 in the standings, draws the amount of attention that DP does? Somehow I think that will result in a new ride for her in 2018. After all, isn't attention what sponsors are actually looking for in the long run???

[emoticon]

Kinda strange SHR didn't formally announce either Kurt's or Danica's status until after both drivers went public.

The revelation younger drivers are working for less does shine a light on the new normal for teams and likely NASCAR.

And with her gone, expect 30-60,000 fewer bottoms in the grandstands at each race all season long next year.
