Ref Jr: Yes, I did notice. I kinda felt a pain in the gut. I hated to see that. I'm sure he's got a lot on his mind (I can only imagine....)

Brakes going away, they are done in by the down force package or lack thereof according to the rules. With down force, let off the gas and slowing starts, less down force more binders needed to whoa her down going into sweeping turns. Love it Thomas about the retirement or early retirement!

More downforce is NOT the answer. It produces more follow-the-leader no-racing shows. The fact that ALL the top running cars (that run up front) did NOT burn the brakes, PROVES that you don't need more downforce. Been there, done that (with dirt Sprint Cars). I proved, as a owner/promoter of a racetrack, that non-wing Sprint Cars put on a better show (more side-by-side racing and more passing) THAN winged Sprint Cars.

No disrespect to Junior, but that interview following the mechanical failure was almost sad to watch and listen to. Sounded like he simply missed a shift or dropped it in the wrong gear and nuked his transmission. I'm left with the impression neither his heart or his mind is into racing. To take it a step further, I think he was changed after he crashed in that road course race in California and the car caught fire, escaping (barely) with relatively minor burns to the lower part of his body. I certainly see how stuff like that affects a person.

I totally agree and have thought the same thing many times over the years while following Jr.

Jr. felt his late father pull him from f........ticle and 60 Minutes interview......HERE

Yes, I certainly think that JR has in fact certainly already "retired". When you miss half a season there was more going on than was shared with the public.
I don't blame him, his life is more important than another race or none. I'm sure that Amy is a big big voice in all of this as well.
He spent a lot of time with NFL players and doctors learning about brain injuries while he was off track last season. That knowledge coupled with Sr's bloody death has to weigh heavily on him.
I wish him well, he always stayed humble.

Danica Hones Her PR Skills.....

To be fair, she isn't the first and won't be the last to blow off autograph seekers, but that little tirade wouldn't do much to endear her to fans......or potential sponsors.

WHAT? You mean she's not perfect? I rate professional racecar drivers according to how good they are at their primary job (driving racecars). Except that with female drivers I use a double standard. They get a higher rating if they look good. I don't know why that is?

Many of the contemporary drivers don't seem to embrace fans like back in the day. There are of course exceptions. Even Earnhardt Sr. didn't much like being bothered while he was 'at the office'. I can understand that, but the esteemed Ms. Patrick was done with qualifying. She claimed this booing fan breached security. The cell phone video clearly showed otherwise; she walked back to the cluster of fans behind a fence and launched her tirade. Can't stand the heat...........

Leah Pritchett who has won three NHRA Top Fuel dragster races so far and has the national record ET at 3.658 seconds, the quickest time ever is great with the fans. Here is a video I shot of her last weekend at the NHRA Summernationals with the fans.
