Topic: Nascar Follies

Bob, and of course there was THIS...

Daytona Beach, Volusia County and the State of Florida taxpayers certainly dodged a bullet when NASCAR chose Charlotte.

But back to the Danica HOF question. Her greatest accomplishment to me was how she parlayed dropping out of high school into becoming a millionaire for essentially being.......famous. Trailblazer? Ground breaker? Shattering barriers? Nah. Those distinctions belong to Janet Guthrie and Lyn St. James (USAC), Shirley Muldowney (NHRA), & Sara Christian (NASCAR).

How can any driver even be considered, mentioned, debated, dreamed of......being in any racing HOF if they never, ever even won ONE race???

Enjoyed watching her..\ She was a good side show, but you don't get in the Hall for, "enjoyed watching."

If they do put her in, the statues of the "real" great ones should turn their backs.

Not NASCAR, but..............

No one hurt, but I'm thinking it was quite painful for the GM executive to go to the office this morning. [emoticon]

I GUARANTEE his rear end got razzed big time. I wonder what his new nickname is. On the other hand any press is good press.
I like the way it was written as if it was the car's fault. Are you listening Elon?

This will have to be worth jokes and sly comments for the next five years at GM.

I tuned in just after the Corvette fiasco and they were at break. After returning to live footage, all Allen Bestwick would say it was a guest celebrity driving the 1st pace car backed up by a second regular pace car driven by Oriel Serva. It continued with no name mentioned, "just a celebrity". After the news finaly came out that it was a Generous Motors exec, I guess the signage everywhere for Chevrolet and a sponsor bought the exec time. Being at the GM head shed Monday AM would have been priceless!

The Detroit Free Press column mentioned Reuss is one of only 30 GM engineers authorized to drive new vehicles in development at some test track in Germany. Hes also licensed to drive in IMSA and another sports car circuit. Dunno, kinda looked like he got in the gas too quick exiting the turn.

Geez, Thomas, never thought about that. Maybe this winter they will have him do some remedial driving on the GM test track that is located on the Yuma Proving Ground outside Yuma,AZ. I'll have to watch for a runaway Vette crossing US 95! Hopefully, he won't drive over to Michigan International for an instant replay this weekend.
