I think if I owned the track that the great grandma races at, I would waive her entry fee or give her some "tow money", or something. She has to be drawing some fans.

In the ever changing NASCAR rules landscape, the latest...... Never really understood this rule to begin with. Not to worry, NASCAR says their really gonna start dropping the hammer on the creative rear 'window treatments'. Hey Brian, or whoever is minding the store, instead of penalty levels and such, just publish the rules, make the inspection process less anal, and decree anyone who violates the rules simply loses their share of the purse regardless of where they finish in running order, points for where they finished and forget the fines and suspensions. Simple. Understandable. |

There was a time when Nascar provided the manufacturers with R&D information, when one company came out with what appeared to be an advantage others soon followed suit. This made the money invested by the various manufacturers a worthwhile investment, this went on for several years. Then came the clone cars and the supposed cars of the future where the only real difference was the decals. Suddenly win on Sunday sell on Monday didn t mean what it used to.Nascar has successfully regulated itself to the point that Fans and Sponsors are no longer interested. If a quarter inch on the alignment on a rear window is going to determine who wins the race then R&D goes out the window along with factory funding

Isn't discovering and implementing the window thing without getting caught R&D? Of course it is, it just didn't cost a ridiculous amount of money. Puma 30RKSS ![]() |

There is a very interesting article in today's Raleigh News and Observer about legalized gambling saving Nascar. Their software is secured so that I can't post the link but other sources have surely posted it as well. The article makes some very interesting points and if implemented the gambling feature would increase the bidder pool. I wonder if this has anything to do with the timing to float the sale. This link will work clicky |

I read a lengthy story (Forbes I think) following the Supreme Court ruling striking down the 1992 Federal law banning sports betting. I'm inclined to think everyone from state governments salivating at the potential income, to pro sports leagues are overestimating the perceived pot of gold they envision. Gambling of all types seems to have a narrow customer base, and I've read countless stories regarding market saturation of casinos. Only so much pie to slice, I'm just not seeing the windfall, especially the windfall governments think is out there.

But if that pie moved from illegal non taxed betting to legal taxed betting. A fair share of that pie will be taken by every government that can reach a piece of it.

Stuck in a beautiful campground with tall trees and plenty of shade, and absolutely no chance of the satellite dish getting a signal. Worst part is without satellite I’ll have to watch the wife’s favorite- American Idol and Dancing with the Stars.
