Topic: Nascar Follies

187. The number of wins KB has across all 3 NASCAR national touring series. Never mind the knock on him running in the 'minor' leagues with the kids, the number speaks for itself, however grudging the admiration. Like Paw said, the kid can wheel a race car. He might not see 200 total wins in Cup Series, but I'm betting he exceeds 200 wins in NASCAR, period. He's but 32 years old.

I agree that Kyle Busch is a great driver. I don't know about driving anything. All I ever heard was NASCAR and late models. I'd like to see him try a sprint car on dirt or Indy car. Both he and Hamlin acted like immature kids earlier. They both seem to have grown up some though. But I'll never be a fan of either.
These days I'm following Kyle Larsen and Chistopher Bell.

Kyle's only dirt racing I've ever seen was his running in Tony Stewart's Prelude to the Dream at Eldora. PPV event for charity on HBO when it was held. He was competitve
but can't remember if he won. Was must see TV for me, watched every year it was run.

I see in the news Matt Kenseth may be back in the last part of the season driving #6 car for RFR.

Wonder if Kenseth is being brought in to improve the standings 'health' of the 6 team, or because of Trevor Bayne's health?

Yeh, Thomas, I too wondered about that. Hopefully not. But it creates quite a situation with points and/or wins. If Kenseth could pull off a win that would be Chase material, but unless some strange occurrence would happen, neither would have enough points to continue on.

I think, but am not certain, that NASCAR still has an attempt to compete in all points events rule so that a win would not put either Kenseth or Bayne in the Chase.

Yes, I know that Stewart and Kyle were allowed in the Chase. But an injury is very different than a part-time driver, even a past champion.

Was not NASCAR clear that a win would not put Jeff Gordon in the Chase when he subbed for Junior?

IMO Kenseth would never get a waiver. The waiver was never intended for part-time drivers. I'm still surprised that Kenseth took this deal. He has said from the beginning, that he wouldn't drive a car he didn't think was competitive. Even the 17 car, which I wouldn't call "competitive" is far beyond the 6 car.

Roush definitely has lost its mojo and their way from a decade or more ago. Kenseth is a veteran driver, Bayne was a one hit wonder 'right place at the right time' winner of Daytona. Sponsorship pressure perhaps??
