I have a tuner on my engine and it flies up mountains and with the suspension work I've had done its solid as a rock...truck is just crazy rough without the camper on it ![smile [emoticon]](http://www.coastresorts.com/sharedcontent/cfb/images/smile.gif) .
Stufarmer...I'm not really interested in the various features of the 2017 Fords as I am the ride and power stock. The one thing I do like is that Ford is doing carpet deletes now and the high mounted camper camera I can see as being a huge benefit for hooking up. How does your '16 carry your camper and did you have to do anything to suspension?
USC, my camper is in storage, I will post pics in a few days and give some feedback as I havent driven it with the wedges yet.
In regards to the saftey ratings of Ram, I only heard bad things about the 1500 not the bigger trucks, the ratings are on this you tube vid for those interested.

Another benefit of not going with the 450 is the insurance costs. I was considering going with an 4500 Ram and my insurance wouldnt even touch it, saying it was a commercial vehicle. Correct me if im mistaken the new Ram 3500 gives the F450 a run for its capacity/
Finally, you can buy a new fully loaded DRW in the mid 50s all day long, I think the equivalent fords are about 10k more.

According to Ford's own literature the F450 pickup is only available in a Crewcab 4x4 with a payload of 5320 (reduced by options). The equivalent F350 has a payload of 5820 (reduced by options). If you want a F450 with higher payload than the F350, you need to go chassis cab.

Smart car will open the door after hitting concrete wall at 60mph.
Try that with Ram???
The F450 linked to ebay is fishy. It has "window sticker" link, but it is opening dealer list instead, that is not showing differential ratio.
Lariant might be misleading too.
I think they a legit dealer. Google the VIN. Differential on the F450 is 4.30, no other options.

Not wanting to try it, but then again, we were talking Smart Car vs Ram. Again, I don't even have/want a Ram.
Obviously, Ram at 60 would be significantly greater impact than a concrete wall, and the Smart Car would be less impact to the truck than a concrete wall. Also, a big Ram would probably drive right over the Smart Car or at least miss the impact zone with the higher bumper.
But hey, I'm not picking on a Smart Car see what happens when a F150 and Honda Civic hit head on both before after lift. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NCelD0qr8Do

Yes, they are pickup. The chassis cab models are a completely different animal for F350 and F450.

I wonder if the F450s shown are regular pickup bed models. Those have an F350 frame underneath. My F450 (2003 chassis cab) has a payload rating of 8,100 pounds!

I have no idea why, but I think the F450 ratings are somewhat arbitrary like most trucks. If they had simply rated the newer one at 14500 like mine, the carrying capacity would be 5414. My F450 doesn't even have a yellow sticker like that one. It does have the one below.

Shiny Object Syndrome... I chronically suffer from it.
I priced an F450 through my employer's X-Plan discount. Out the door here in WWA with nearly 10% sales tax came to $82k.
My SOS was quickly cured.....
Worth noting, there is a beautiful 2017 F450 on Ebay brand new for a Buy it Now of $66k. I'd still have to pay nearly 10% tax on it once it's registered here.
F450 on Ebay
To the OP--
Make sure to look at F450's vs. F350's - Dana 110 rear end vs. Dana 80 - that's 14k lbs vs. 10k lbs. Also, 19.5's vs. 17" tires. The 19.5's are rated at 4k lbs per tire. If you're going to haul a BIG TC with a trailer on a Superhitch, make sure to consider an F450.
So, back to the age old question: Payload sticker on that F450 is 4900 pounds. The big TC's will be over that. F350 similar equipped would probably have another 500-700 pounds payload capacity.
Is the F450 a derated number for vehicle class limits? I certainly would rather have the 19.5's and the heavier axle and brakes even though the official payload number is less than F350.

I can't seem to find less than a 4 star for a 2500 or 3500 RAM either. Who cares about the little trucks.
