I don't blame you for being upset. The way Adventurer treated you is just why Truck Camper Warehouse dropped the Adventurer/Eagle Cap line.

I have owned three cabover campers and all needed some stuff fixed. One issue noticed before purchase was as the door opened all the trim pieces basically fell into the camper. And this was after an exhaustive check and double check process before it left the factory in La Grande and after the dealer also went over it with a fine tooth comb before putting it on the sales lot. Things happen. Get it fixed, move on.

RV warranties are a farce in my opinion.

Sadly, this is the case. The appliances all have their own warranty so the manufacturer is really only responsible for the shell of the truck camper. And they can play the blame game unlike car warranties where the dealer fixes the car regardless if it is a part that the manufacturer did not make, but chose to install in the car. And a one year RV warranty is almost useless as almost nothing major shows up in the first year.

Quality of the product is not the responsibility of the customer. Why didn't the manufacturing quality inspector find the problem before it left the factory. Why didn't the dealer find the problem before delivery to the customer?

You are correct. The OP says it is 'damage by design'. The design compounded with sloppy workmanship is the problem. That employee never bothered to see if the bumper was consistent with the design and in the correct place. Too bad for the end consumer. For most RV's the end result is the customer is the beta tester.

I am 100% on your side. Adventurer needs to step up to the plate and take care of this and I would not settle for anything less then a new door. I don't care how through of a PDI was done, this could easily be missed. In this day and age the power of the internet is huge and this could cost them many times in lost sales then what a door replacement would cost them.

I emailed them and told them I think they need to take care of this.

OP....

YOU moved the bumper position on window so it now functions

Go to hardware store and buy a residential door wall bumper and install it over the damage area on door.
This will cover/seal damage area AND provide additional door bumper stop that will make contact with ladder step corner.

Cause that window bumper will NOT stop the bottom portion of door from continuing to make contact if a gust of wind should catch that door again.
Bottom will just continue to whack ladder step corner (door flex/twist) as top stops against window bumper

I wouldn't have purchased that camper with such an obvious design flaw

Is it time for your medication or mine?

I really like their 86sbs and was the camper we were going to buy before we found our Lance 861. I have read a lot of great reviews about their build quality.

So, I guess the op will just sue the manufacturer?

Not sure why yours works differently but we've never had a problem with ours, took a bit of getting used to but I quite like the friction hinge personally.
