Sorry to see and hear the lack of interest in carrying forth the rally. We don't usually get back into the area that early in May, so we have waited until the last minute just to see what our travel schedule is. Not sure what the one post was about concerning the location. Maybe they are offering to become wagon masters!! ![]() I go along with Bob's comments concerning how and where to donate the left over funds. Even if this thread and activity rides off into the sunset, remember, if any of you get down here in the Valley of the Sun where we bask in winter sunshine and comfortable temps, be sure to look us up!! The number of rallies and interest in them has dramatically decreased the past few years. It seems folks are becoming more anti-social and are just content to spend their life communicating through electronic means.

Very true Dick. I saw a couple at Olive Garden once having dinner. They were both paying more attention to their Ipad's than each other. I wonder if they were texting each other because they sure weren't talking much. ![]() Yes, even our rally has been shrinking the past few years. Many of the former participants seem to be enjoying retirement elsewhere and not in the NW (and that's fine). ![]() 2003 Suburban K2500LT 4WD, 8.1L, 3.73 2008 Adirondack 31RK-DSL Our blog ![]() |

Our problem has been, and will continue to be, two other things on that same weekend. We made it to McMinnville area last year because Dave could drive back to Salem to participate with our Optimist Club in a huge area-wide kids track meet. This project needs everyone that can stand up and walk a bit to help out! Our state Oregon Hunters Association convention is also the same weekend--we like to go at least every few years. We also have our Northwood RV Owners Ass'n. rally in June in La Grande--we like to attend that since I'm a moderator on our forum. We are already nearby on another habitat project. I think physical problems in our aging group are slowing us down. Walking is getting increasingly hard for me and will probably be that way until my back gets bad enough for surgery--which might be in the near future. And I do agree with David--and add in increased fuel costs it equals less participation.

My first suggestion would be to donate the left over funds to the dog training folks in Sandy Or or wherever they are as that is a Good Sam supported place. We can do it in the name of the NW RV.net spring rally group. My second suggestion would be to pick a place and date in June before school gets out and just have an informal get together. That weekend in May has seemed to be a tuff one for some folks. I can think of several places like Kelso, the place in Rhodedendron,Mcminnville,Prosser, etc. Fuel prices seem to be coming down a bit and are actually s'posed to come down more. Now if I can just get my exhaust manifold fixed relatively inexpensively and my radiation out of the way,I'll be able to at least get on the road for short trips. ![]() GO COUGARS 2001 Tradewinds 7390 LTC 330 Cat Turbo Freightliner Chassis 2011 Jeep Liberty(toad) '88 Mustang 5 Spd 5.0L GT convertible (not Toad) ![]() |

Hi folks, Well, I tried digging up old contact info to no avail. Those that haven't posted lately I tried sending a PM, again with no luck. So unless we hear from them by the end of January, we'll donate according to our original idea. I have updated post #1 of this thread, so please read it. This rally is now an informal gathering with no wagon master and no planned activities. You're on your own to have fun and to meet and greet everyone else. If you decide not to attend and are on the list in post #1, please let me and the park know so we can take you off the list and open up your site. If there is not enough interest in even an informal get together, we'll cancel our hold on the tee-pee room. We're sorry to see it end this way. We were really looking forward to another great rally with some great friends. We'd love to hear from you anytime you'd like to drop us a note. You can PM me and I'll get an email about it. We have our blog you can follow if you'd like (dlgroesbeck.blogspot.com). And Laura is on Facebook (laura douglas grouesbeck). Personally, I never found the time to Facebook. ![]() Until we meet again, take care. David & Laura |

My preference for the left over funds and other items would be to donate them to the Salvation Army. Approximately 98% of donations go to the needy and the staff is paid very low saleries. I gave up on Good Will and the Red Cross when I learned many of their managers are paid more than $150,000 per year. My other preference would be to a service dog organization. |

I agree, twin! DavidG, we are going to cancel our reservations for the ex-rally. Have a reminder to do that Monday. Hope all is going well with you. |

I canceled our reservations yesterday, just waiting for confirmation from Yakama Nation RV Park, so sorry that it isn't working out to continue having a NW Spring Rally. It has been an adventure this Fall/Winter as we volunteer on a monthly basis September thru December, but also means that we have gotten a view of Oregon state parks which we have either not been or never volunteered in before. We have found a great (for us) place here at Fort Yamhill Heritage area in Grand Ronde, west of McMinnville. Yes, near Spirit Mountain Casino operated by the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde. We are here Jan/Feb, next stop Beverly Beach in March, and then Cape Lookout in April, and last place for our volunteering season will be Umpqua Lighthouse State Park in May. When Rally was canceled we emailed around to find a spot and glad it was in Reedsport as it gets us closer to California Redwoods where we have not been before. Then back to the Tri-Cities for the summer to travel around Washington State seeing the kids, gr-kids, and welcoming in another gr-granddaughter in June. An added Summer plus is Grandson Nick getting married in August north of Seattle, it is going to be a busy summer for the Cochrans.
