If I catch anything on rainfall at the coast I'll post it here tonight. South of Newport isn't usually shown--it is out of our TV area and covered by Eugene I think.

Thanks Linda - I would really like to know how many gallons has come down!! The only good thing about this is that it has really validated why we head south for the winters!! Carolyn and I were talking and this has to be in the top 5 heaviest down pours of rain that we have ever been in and that includes one memorable 4 days of it while at anchor out on the west coast of Vancouver Island in Kyuqut Sound. Oh well, it can only get better!! [b]Ron & Carolyn Tucker - Wire Hair Fox Terrier Federal Way WA./Sun City AZ. The weather news just said Newport had 2.04 inches in the last 24 hours. We had over 1.5 inches--seems like tons more! This is one of the earliest bad storms on record--for both wind and rain. UPDATE: report says Newport area will get nearly 2 more inches of rain in the next 24 hours. Tuesday looks a lot better! * This post was edited 09/29/13 07:08pm by rvlady * |

Ron Found this on the internet, doesn't say where it was recorded, think we've had close to that much here in Mac. Heard a loud bang back behind the house about ten minutes ago, maybe one of the trees in the park toppled over. Don't think any of them can get our house from the direction the wind is blowing. Our next door neighbor did move his vehicles out of his drive and up the street a ways though. Tom & Pat The National Weather Service recorded up to 11.7 inches of rainfall in parts of Northwest Oregon in the past 48 hours. Hillsboro recorded 3.86 inches in the past 48 hours and Portland International Airport measured 1.75 inches of rainfall in the past 24 hours 2013 Itasca Sunstar 27N Toad: 2010 Toyota Corolla Good Sam Lifetime Member |

The Bremerton area has had 3.98 inches in the last 24 hours and was wetter than even Forks.. Yeh,I have to agree with Ron,but the feeling around us was that the Cougs just weren't up for it. Or at least the offense. Even though the score was 55-17,the defense worked their tails off. But it's hard to deal with spotting them two touchdowns on interceptions in three pass plays.Their receivers were faster than lightning. We left just at the end of the third quarter as the rain hit with a vengance.Durn missed Apodaca get his two touchdowns. He really looked good while he was in. We had two quarterbacks just absolutely creamed by the same Stanford player and they both had to leave the game. That player broke through on the third qb and pulled up just before he hit him 'cuz it was very obvious that he had made his pass and was standing there all by himself. Even Leach was complaining about the targetting of the second qb that didn't get called. It's not right for a team that good to have to have players that do that. Bigdog - any word of the status on Conner - I think that's the first string qb - and the extent of his injury? Haven't seen anything on him on the local websites.

Bigdog, do we have a Cougars vs. Beavers game coming up? Now, just after 9 p.m. we have had huge wind gusts--feels like we are on the coast! All ours trees made it--at least I didn't hear anything. The front is supposed to be going through and I guess it is! So far we still have power and Dish. I walk around with a flashlight in my pocket. I hope Ron is anchored down--wind is always worse on the coast--I heard gusts could be as high as 75 mph tonight. |

Thanks, Tom. Looks like you folks in McMinnville have really been we this month--second highest rainfall in September after Astoria--well over 7 inches! The wind has stripped tons of leaves off of our 4 birch trees--all green. The weather report just said the front has gone through, thank goodness. On the radar the rain has gone over Salem and just about over us.

We lost power last night from about 10:30 to about 3:00 am. Turns out the house batteries don't seem to have enough oomph to turn over the generator. Had to start the big cat to get the power for that. Don't look forward to replacing those batteries.
